What is Apex Legends? Apex Legends is a fast-paced free-to-play battle royale game set in the world of the shooter Titanfall. Against the backdrop of a bloody sporting event, so-called “Legends” shoot each other and fight for the title of Apex Champion.
In the game, 60 players compete in 20 teams of 3 or 30 teams of 2 for victory. There are two maps with respective features. For example, there are huge dinosaurs or roaming loot trains on the battlefields. What’s particularly cool about Apex Legends are the playable heroes, called Legends.
They each have their own abilities that significantly influence the game. For instance, the healer Lifeline can heal players and revive them exceptionally well, while the drug addict Octane zooms across the battlefield like a maniac. Additionally, all Legends have a developed story and personality, which continues in the game.
What is the current state of the game? Apex Legends launched in 2019 without any warning or hype. However, it could immediately attract players, including top gamer shroud, who was significantly involved in the gunplay. Even after 5 seasons, the game is doing well and you can quickly find a match. On Twitch, there are currently (as of July 2020, according to Twitch Tracker) around 32,000 viewers on average for Apex Legends. This still puts it 13th among the most-watched games on Twitch.

What makes Apex Legends so special? The special features of Apex include:
- Clearly differentiated heroes, all with unique skills
- Fast-paced, action-packed gameplay
- Ping system to convey complex information non-verbally
- Fun gunplay with upgradeable weapons
- Intricate story that continues in the game
Who is the battle royale suitable for? Apex Legends is a game for fans of fast, action-packed combat. A typical match in Apex is rarely boring, and due to strategic gameplay, opponents can be repeatedly brought back into the game by their teammates, keeping the player pool filled until the end.
Additionally, there are lovingly designed heroes and their meaningful abilities. So if you’ve always wanted to experience BR mixed with a hero shooter and still want constant action, Apex Legends is the right choice.
