What is Blackout? Blackout is the battle royale mode of the COD game Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. It is the first foray of the Call of Duty franchise into the BR world. It also introduced the largest map ever featured in a CoD game.
This map was also assembled from fragments of popular CoD maps, including Nuketown, the lighthouse, and the zombie-infested asylum. The disgusting undead, for which Black Ops is famous, are also here as PvE opponents that drop particularly good loot.
Another aspect of Blackout is the fast-paced gameplay. You run, jump, drive, and fly across the map, shooting down opponents with modern guns in droves. An optimal blend of the regular Black Ops multiplayer gameplay and the BR genre.
What is the current state of the game? Since now there is Warzone – the free BR offshoot of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) – a more modern alternative for CoD fans, interest in Blackout has recently declined. On Twitch in July 2020, there were only around 1,200 viewers on average for the game.
What makes Blackout so special? The special features of the BR game include:
- Famous CoD maps on a large BR map
- Fast-paced gameplay like CoD
- Perks as consumable items
- Zombies as a PvE attraction
Who is the battle royale suitable for? Blackout is ideal for Call of Duty fans who appreciate the fast-paced and fun game and gunplay of this game but now prefer the thrill of a BR game.
In addition, there are many lovingly crafted nods to the rich history of the CoD franchise. After all, there are several popular CoD maps at once, and even zombies are included.
