Call of Duty: Vanguard offers you 2 attachment options so that your shots are not visible on the enemy mini-map when firing – suppressor and subsonic ammunition. However, if you want to disappear from the radar, you should use the suppressor.
Overview:
- If enemies have chosen the perk “Radar” and you fire without a suppressor or subsonic ammunition with your weapon, enemies will see you on the map.
- It is similar with a reconnaissance drone and the perk “Ghost”. If you have the perk, you are safe from reconnaissance despite the drone as long as you move enough.
- It has now been revealed: If you want to protect yourself effectively from reconnaissance, you need a suppressor.
Subsonic weaker than suppressor
What advantages do both attachments offer? Subsonic and suppressors help you so that players with an activated “Radar” cannot see you on the mini-map when firing your weapon. But there are even more benefits:
- Subsonic ammunition
- Hides you on the mini-map when firing
- No indication on the compass when firing
- Attachment without disadvantages
- Suppressor
- Hides you on the mini-map when firing
- No indication on the compass when firing
- Shots are quieter
- No muzzle flash
That there is a specific type of ammunition for this “noise protection” is completely new with CoD: Vanguard. The attachment comes without disadvantages and it seems tempting to rather take the subsonic ammunition and still have the muzzle space free.
However, you should still rely on the suppressor if you do not want to be detected.
Why are suppressors better? If you are playing simultaneously with the powerful stealth perk “Ghost”, then suppressors provide you with a much higher benefit.
The YouTuber and CoD expert “TheXclusiveAce” has discovered that “Ghost” is deactivated for a full 3 seconds when you fire with subsonic ammunition (via YouTube).
While you are not directly visible on the radar when firing your weapon, the enemy reconnaissance drone still shows you on the enemy mini-map. A significant disadvantage of subsonic ammunition.
When should I use a suppressor? If you play with “Ghost”, then also use a suppressor.
Shortly after the beta, some players felt that the mini-map in Vanguard is useless. But in the full version, it looks quite different. Reconnaissance drones constantly fly in the sky and they are even stronger than assumed in the beta.
If you activate one of the two reconnaissance killstreaks, you will get the perk “Radar”. If an enemy then fires their weapon without a suppressor or subsonic ammunition, the enemy will be visible on the map when firing and will then be revealed by the reconnaissance.
If you want to completely prevent showing up on the enemy radar during a normal reconnaissance, then the only option left is the suppressor. Therefore, the suppressor is almost mandatory for all players who also rely on the perk “Ghost”.
