What is considered impolite can actually help in Battlefield 2042 to bypass an annoying bug. Because when you shoot at enemies or friends lying on the ground, you can indicate to them a problem that they may not recognize themselves.
Why should I shoot at downed enemies? Since Battlefield 2042 launched in early access on November 12, there have been several issues with the game. This started with server issues at release and numerous bugs that were found afterwards.
One of these bugs is the “redeploy bug.” This prevents players from re-entering the game or being revived – sometimes only one of the two. After being taken out, they lie helpless on the ground and can do nothing.
Medics cannot revive them, and in the worst case, they cannot even re-enter the game. However, as the affected player, you may not notice this. As an opponent, you can help by giving a seemingly helpless enemy the finishing blow. Normally, this is not possible.
In this specific case, you can actually kill opponents according to some users on reddit. And even if that doesn’t work, you indicate that the enemy apparently has a problem they do not recognize. This way, they can react, making the game a bit fairer.
Isn’t there another way? Since Battlefield 2042 does not allow text chat with the opposing team, you cannot verbally indicate to opposing players their condition. Moreover, a few shots are much faster than written text.
However, this does not even apply only to opponents. Your allies can also be alerted to problems with a few shots.

Shoot at your friends – It helps them!
Why should I shoot at friends? The “redeploy bug” can also occur in your own team. Especially for medics, this is annoying because they cannot revive teammates and thus earn points.
Especially as a medic, you should therefore alert allies with a few shots from your pistol that they cannot be revived. This way, you won’t have to go without support for an unnecessarily long time.
By the way: It can even happen that you spawn without a team marker – meaning that you are displayed as an enemy in your own team.
If your friends shoot at you while you are still alive, it is a good sign. Then also use the redeploy function. It will kill you, but it is currently the only known workaround for this issue.
When will the bug be fixed? Battlefield 2042 is currently struggling with several issues since its early access release. There are several known bugs that are already being worked on, but the “redeploy bug” is not one of them (via EA.com).
The bug does not occur necessarily frequently, but at least not always – unlike the annoying spread of automatic weapons and especially assault rifles. This currently makes the game quite uncomfortable with some weapons. At least improvement is in sight here:
