This weekend, Rayquaza returns to Pokémon GO! We’ll tell you why raiding is worth it and why Rayquaza is good even without shiny.
What happens this weekend? Many players have been waiting for the return of Rayquaza, and now the time has finally come. It returns to the raids this weekend.
The Pokémon is likely one of the best raid bosses and is worth every raid pass. We will explain what Rayquaza can do and why you should definitely go raiding.
How long does the event last? For us German players, the event starts this Saturday, March 16, and runs until Monday, March 18. You have the entire day for raids again.
That’s why Rayquaza is so worthwhile
This is what Rayquaza can do: To give you an overview of the Pokémon, here are its stats:
- Attack: 284
- Defense: 170
- HP: 213
- Max CP: 3835
- Type: Dragon and Flying
What the stats indicate: Rayquaza’s attack stat is incredibly high. This is where the Pokémon shines. It is an excellent all-rounder and can compete with almost all Pokémon.
These are the moves: Rayquaza can learn not only dragon moves:
- Fast Moves: Dragon Tail, Air Slash
- Charge Moves: Outrage, Ancient Power, Aerial Ace
The moves are so good: Rayquaza has the best dragon moves in the game. For this reason alone, it is already better than Palkia and Dialga, which only have Draco Meteor.
But the flying moves are also solid, making it a good attacker for this type as well.
What can Rayquaza be used for? On one hand, Rayquaza is the best dragon attacker in the game. This makes it often the best counter against other dragon Pokémon. It was also a top counter against the raid boss Palkia.
On the other hand, the Pokémon is also a top all-rounder. Rayquaza struggles only against steel and fairy Pokémon. Against all other Pokémon in gyms, Rayquaza can be deployed easily and deal solid damage.
I already have a good Rayquaza, I just need the shiny: Many players are disappointed because shiny Rayquaza will not be available.
Even if you already have a good Rayquaza on your team, you should quickly acquire 2 or 3 more good Rayquaza. You will rarely have such a good Pokémon in raids. So it’s worth leveling multiple Rayquaza.
This is how a comparable event went: In February, you could encounter Latias in a similar event. There, the legendary raids were significantly increased. It could well be that this is the case this weekend as well.
This is why you should definitely go raiding: No matter if you already have good Rayquaza, there isn’t really a better raid boss to catch. It is the best dragon attacker and a top all-rounder. What more could you want?
What you should know about Rayquaza raids
This is a 100% IV Rayquaza: A 100% IV Rayquaza from a raid has 2191 CP. With a weather boost, i.e., in windy conditions, even 2739 CP. The closer Rayquaza is to these CP numbers, the higher its IV.
What are the best counters? Rayquaza has a double weakness to ice. This is why this type brings the best counters. Additionally, the types dragon, fairy, and rock are effective. The best counters are:
- Mammutel
- Snibunna
- Rossana
You can find a larger list of counters in our guide to Rayquaza.
How many players are needed? Rayquaza can already be easily defeated with two players. So it is enough if you team up with one friend.
Maybe a new event is waiting for us soon:
