Warframe regularly introduces new Warframes into the game. In the last Dev Stream, a new Warframe was presented that stands out due to its corpulence. This is well-received by many players.
The titular Warframes are – in simplified terms – combat suits that you select before missions in the game, which then represent something akin to classes and each have their unique abilities and stats.
Which Warframe is it about? New Warframes are regularly introduced into the game, and most recently, the developers announced in Dev Stream 128 a Warframe with unusual proportions. The “Oni Frame” is conceptually intended to resemble a Japanese ogre (Oni).
Therefore, it is large and especially very corpulent. Quickly, it earned the nickname “Fat Frame” in the chat and forum. This is somewhat unusual, as most Warframes – with the exception of rare massive frames like Hildryn – come across as agile space ninjas and the new “chubby one” stands out from the crowd.
What can the fat Warframe do? The abilities of the fat frame are said by the developers to be entirely about “eating”. He can swallow everything, damage, items, and even enemies! He simply sucks them into his “Void stomach”.
A developer jokingly remarked, “We wanted an Oni, but someone turned it into a Kirby!” They also joked about new “jiggly animations” and corresponding physics effects.
It seems that the “Fat Frame” will be a kind of tank and supporter that sucks things in and will likely spit them out later.

This is how fans are reacting: The majority of fans in the Warframe forum have responded very positively to the new Warframe. They praise the unusual design and are happy that Warframe doesn’t only use slim and athletic body shapes for its combat suits:

- “I need the frame because I can personally identify with it. It’s a true beauty!”
- “I am totally thrilled by the frame because it is so close to my own body shape. I’ve struggled with my weight for most of my life, but seeing a strong character in a game (my favorite game, moreover) who is also overweight makes me very happy.”
- “He looks like the fat knight from Dark Souls 3!”
- “Shut up and take my Platinum!”
When is the fat Warframe coming? Unfortunately, Digital Extremes hasn’t said anything about that yet. The Fat Frame doesn’t even have a name, though Shrek or Kirby are at the top of the fan lists.
