The survival game Rust is generally quite popular, but the new update has ensured that it has now even landed among the top 50 games with the most simultaneous active players on Steam.
A new feature in Rust has excited fans so much that new records in player numbers can be achieved. It is actually a rather simple game element.
Rust is taking off!
What happened? Rust managed to record more than 70,000 simultaneous active players on Steam last weekend. This is a new record for the survival game and allowed it to slide into the top 50 of the Steam list. The reason for this is a new update that introduces a very fun game element:
- You now build hot air balloons
- With the balloons, you float to the enemy bases to attack them from the air
- The defenders set up surface-to-air missile launchers to shoot down the balloons
A feature that is simply fun: Players are thrilled about the new feature. Even the boats that were introduced earlier this year were well received.
Flying alone with the balloons is already fun for many. Then, the attempt to reach the base with the slow flying devices before the missiles can shoot down the balloon adds a certain thrill.
An update that is very well received
This is how players are reacting: Rust is generally very well received by players after the official launch. And many are happy about the new feature. It simply provides another innovative and fun way to fight each other.
Queen Hammerlock mentions on Steam: “Man, I love this game. The updates are fantastic. The developers are always working on the game and introducing new things.”
This is also included in the update: In addition to the hot air balloons and missile launchers, the update offers a few more things for Rust:
- Balancing adjustments
- Bug fixes
- A new transport ship
- NPCs no longer allow you to sleep in safe zones
- Loot respawn at the transport ships
