In Fortnite: Battle Royale, a new weapon has been introduced. It is the Heavy Assault Rifle, which is modeled after an AK-47. You can find out how the new weapon performs in the game here.
What can the AK-47 do? With Patch 6.22 came the new Heavy Assault Rifle. It is available in “Rare” to “Legendary” tiers and is significantly stronger than the previous assault rifles. However, it shoots slower and has less ammunition.
However, in initial gameplay tests, the new gun has proven to be exceptionally strong when handled correctly.
Great at Distance, Poor in Close Combat
First Gameplay of the new weapon: The YouTuber Halo Okraheads obtained a Heavy Assault Rifle in a video and had initial experiences with it. Here are his findings:
- Brutal Damage: The AK-47 inflicts over 10 points more damage than the comparable assault rifles of the corresponding tiers. Three hits can take down any opponent as long as they have no significant shields.
- Headshot Overkill: Particularly with headshots, you can deal considerable damage with the AK-47. Halo Okraheads eliminated an opponent with a single shot due to a random headshot that dealt 192 points of damage. That’s remarkably high!
Is the new weapon completely overpowered? Fortunately not, as the AK-47 has its disadvantages:
- Not a Close Combat Weapon: The weapon fires much slower than other assault rifles or even SMGs. So, you should not use it in close combat.
- Bloom: The Heavy Assault Rifle is susceptible to bloom, causing deviation at long distances. Therefore, you should only use it with single shots and definitely not with continuous fire. However, well-placed shots in quick succession are effective with the significant damage of the AK-47 at medium range.
- Low Ammunition: The magazine contains only 25 rounds. If luck is against you, you may have to reload just when you are under fire.
Who should play with the Heavy Assault Rifle? In its current form, the AK-47 is ideal for players who do not run around like wild Rambo, but rather for those who want to take out opponents with a few well-placed hits. Or for players who want to quickly shoot through walls with the high damage of their weapon.
