The 3rd limited research events are over and Pokémon GO shows how they listened to the player base at this event. Our author Noah is excited about the new event series.
Why are the limited researches a success? This event series is particularly successful because it differs from the usual events:
- One must focus on the quests, which is otherwise not the case.
- Furthermore, Niantic listens to the players and continuously adjusts this event.
This is why I enjoy this event series so much
I like this approach: I already liked the general idea behind this event. One must focus on the field researches and not just on catching or raiding. It is a refreshing change from everyday gameplay.
This distinguishes this event series from others: The Community Days, which take place monthly, attract almost all players. There are many Shinies and countless Pokémon to catch.
In my opinion, the limited researches even make it better. There are numerous Shinies, but the event itself is a whole different experience:
- During the Perlu Day there was double Stardust and many water spawns.
- During the current event with Loturzel, there was also a new Shiny in the wild and many more spawns with weather bonus.
It’s worth it doubly, as you not only get the opportunity for many Shinies but also an event with many surrounding spawns.
This is how Niantic improved the event series: With the limited researches, Niantic has done many things right. The start with Barschwa was rather mixed. Many players complained about too few Shinies and a short event duration. Now much has changed again:
- The Perlu Day was already a strong improvement in my eyes because it had more Shinies and easier quests.
- And the current researches with Loturzel are another step in the right direction, as the event time was extended to 9 hours.
Niantic is staying the course: After the criticism regarding the Barschwa Day, Niantic did not let it get to them and brought out such an event again. They responded to the criticism and fundamentally improved the idea.
Even after the positive feedback from the Perlu Day, there were further improvements. The event now lasted 9 hours instead of 3. This allowed even more players to participate.
This is why this event series is better than others: I am also a fan of Community Days, but I like the limited researches even more. Throughout the month, the focus is on catching and raiding, and in this event, one must complete particularly many quests, which otherwise tend to take a back seat.
I also like this monthly rhythm. It’s much better than these weekly events, which sometimes even overlap. With the limited researches, you have everything: cool quests, many Shinies, extraordinary spawns, and above all, a lot of fun.
What do other players say? I am not alone in my opinion. Many players in my community, as well as on Reddit or Twitter, share my opinion. Especially the extended event times for this event were well received.
I didn’t have time to play all afternoon, but I was able to play for an hour in the evening and catch a Shiny. I’m really satisfied.

How should it proceed? It should continue just like this! They could raise the Shiny rate of the event Pokémon to a similar level as with the Perlu Day, but other than that, I am very satisfied.
I look forward to more limited researches in April and hope that Niantic continues to listen to the player base.
