In Apex Legends, Season 5 is just around the corner, and the developers have released new information about it. In addition to the already known heroine Loba, there is a completely new PvE game mode, quests, and a story that will be revealed throughout the season. MeinMMO author Jürgen Horn is quite excited!
What’s included in Season 5? The upcoming 5th season of Apex Legends starts on May 12, 2020, and will bring a lot of new content. The most prominent of these are:
- The already known new legend Loba, a cunning thief who wants to take revenge on the killer Revenant
- A change to the map Kings Canyon. There, due to Loba’s misfortune, the location Skulltown was destroyed and replaced with a kind of platform.
- A completely new PvE mode with quests and story
PvE in Battle Royale? Here’s how the quests work in Season 5
What is the new PvE mode? In their blog, the developers from Respawn detailed the upcoming PvE missions. You can play a new PvE mode alone or with friends starting from May 19, which is one week after the start of the season.
To do this, you jump at night and outside of the Apex Games into the arena Kings Canyon and search for a fragment of an artifact. Along the way, you encounter PvE enemies, including the feared Prowler creatures, which you might know from Bloodhound’s hunter event.
There are 9 different PvE missions that you can play in Season 5 as often as you want. In addition, they gradually tell a story about Loba and her quest for revenge, as well as the mystery of the “Broken Ghost.” However, the developers did not want to reveal what exactly is behind it yet.
How to enter the PvE mode? To play the new mode, you first need to unlock the missions individually. In Season 5, you can find one treasure chest per day in regular Battle Royale. This contains goodies, such as crafting materials, Battle Pass XP, or loot boxes. Also, every 5 chests unlocks one of the 9 PvE missions.
As a player, you can also join missions that you haven’t unlocked. However, you won’t receive rewards for that.
You can also buy chests in the shop, but again, only one per day, provided you have not already found a chest in the game that day. The chests cost 25 cents each, and a total of 45 are needed to unlock all 9 missions. That would be 11.25 Euros if you were not able to find any chests at all.
What’s so great about the new mode? First of all, you get a completely new game mode through the PvE missions, which has not existed in this form before. There were only PvE missions in the regular Battle Royale, which often became frustrating due to malicious players. Here, you only have your squad, and the rest are monsters.
Additionally, there are solid rewards you earn in the PvE. These include cosmetics and progress in the story.
And especially here, Apex Legends has a lot of potential to tell an exciting story. This should run optimally in a PvE mode, where the legends might also converse with each other, bringing more dynamics into the game.
Moreover, each mission is rewarded with another story revelation, and in the end, the entire story is supposed to unfold.
Conclusion from Jürgen Horn: I love stories in games, and especially the narrative behind the cool legends from Apex, which has been excellently presented in the exquisite cinematics and shorts, pleases me immensely. I want to learn more. Therefore, I am looking forward to the new PvE missions.
On one hand I love coop shooters like Borderlands , and on the other hand, I also get more Apex story and background about my favorite heroes? Bring it on!
So Season 5 really brings a lot of new things to the game. Considering how weak and unsatisfying the seasons in Apex Legends started last year and how lavish they are now, this is really a remarkable achievement. I can hardly wait for the start of Season 5!
