Ubisoft has launched a special event for April Fools’ Day called “Rainbow is Magic” for Rainbow Six Siege. It is unusually colorful, much to the delight of players.
What is this event about? In Rainbow Six Siege, the event “Rainbow is Magic” is active from April 1 to April 8. Players must rescue a VIP – Very Important Plushie, meaning a very important stuffed animal. The teddy bear hostage is held on a toy version of the map “Plane”.
And for those who find that not crazy enough, this April Fool’s joke features plenty of plush, unicorns, and pink camouflage.

What changes in this event? “Rainbow is Magic” turns the map “Plane” upside down. The otherwise realistic and dark airplane has been shrunk down and completely dipped in pink for the event. There are star and unicorn wallpapers on the walls, and in other places, there are colorful neon lights.
There are also changes with the Operators: Blackbeard, Montagne, Smoke, and Tachanka have special outfits, while nine other characters appear as toy soldiers.
The hostage is a person in a pastel yellow teddy bear suit with “Please do not shoot” written on it.
Last year, a team qualified for a tournament even though they had hardly played Rainbow Six.
What players are saying: Rainbow Six players are generally quite pleased with this April Fools’ joke. Especially the colorful atmosphere in the otherwise dark and realistic shooter brings laughter to the players.
The new outfit of the Operator Tachanka is also well received: He is dressed in pink camouflage and has been given a unicorn helmet.
User 1nfin1tus on the RS-Subreddit says: “This is just ridiculous…AND I LOVE IT!”
quangdn295 agrees: “It’s like you’re totally high and playing Rainbow Six Siege, just wondering if you’re high or not.”
However, the challenge for the event is criticized: 40 drones are to be destroyed during the event period. Some players consider that too much grind.
