The Egg Event in Pokémon GO is over, but the positive comments about the event keep coming. We explain what Niantic did better with this event.
Why was the event so well received? It seems that Niantic took the criticism of past events to heart and improved many aspects. For instance, significantly more event Pokémon that can be Shiny spawned than in other events.
There were also bonuses that could be combined well. The Raid Week with Latios, which also fell within the event period, rounded off the successful event.
What Niantic did better at the event
Here were the problems with events: Niantic hosts events almost weekly, but many players complained about the low spawn rates of the event Pokémon. For example, during the first days of the Bug Event, many players noticed nothing from the event.
During the event surrounding Pokémon Day, many players also complained about the low spawn rates of Pidgey and Rattata.
This was better now: Niantic took the criticism to heart and significantly increased the spawn rates of the event Pokémon. In the Egg Event, there was a Haspiror on every corner and one could ideally go shiny hunting.
While there were no special raid bosses at the event, the Raid Week with Latios provided an interesting raid boss, as it was available as Shiny for the first time.
Here’s why the bonuses were so good: Not only were the spawns good, but the bonuses were great as well. From the 2 km eggs, you mostly hatched baby Pokémon. The chance for shinies was therefore high.
Additionally, one only had to walk half the distance, and the offer boxes provided numerous incubators at a low price. It all made sense.
The lucky egg, which lasted for one hour, could be ideally activated between the various Latios raids.
What players say about the event
On Reddit, many players are celebrating the event over Easter. A thread on this topic received about 2,000 upvotes so far, and hundreds of players agreed in the comments. It was said:

I actually managed to find two Haspiror as shiny before the end of the last weekend. I also hatched my first Klingplim, the last of the Gen 4 babies I needed. That was great!
- Me_talking: Overall, I enjoyed the event as Haspiror spawned abundantly, and I really liked the half egg distance.
- LuluQuagsire: I didn’t get any shinies, but it was really fun constantly hatching eggs! I got rare candies – especially from Wonneira. I agree, that was a good event!

What’s next? The next event is already on the way. At the end of April, a Ground Event starts in Pokémon GO. There will be a new shiny, and Groudon returns in raids, provided players clean up trash beforehand.
If Niantic continues to have such high spawn rates for event Pokémon in the future, the feedback is likely to remain positive. It could well be that the upcoming event will also be a success.
