Milla Jovovich almost left the film project of “Resident Evil” due to script changes. She tells a news site why the new script made her so angry.
The “Resident Evil” film series is a successful video game adaptation. It consists of six films and is considered the most commercially successful zombie saga in the film industry.
Milla Jovovich plays the character Alice in the lead role. However, the well-known actress almost left the project: because of co-star Michelle Rodriguez and the accompanying script changes.

In an interview with Inverse, Milla Jovovich explained why she almost threw in the towel on the Resident Evil project:
I almost left the film. I was filming something else, and Paul had cast Michelle Rodriguez for the role of Rain. She had just come off Girlfight, and there was an Oscar buzz. She was very new at that time, and I had already been in the business for four years.
So Paul rewrote the script for her. This made my character essentially ‘the girl’ and Rain was ‘the guy’. She got all of my big action scenes, and she became like Alice. And then Alice became this sidekick.

Jovovich received the revised script only when she wanted to travel from Canada to Germany for a project. She read the new version on the plane and was very angry when she landed in Berlin.
Upon arriving at the hotel, she told director and screenwriter Paul Anderson that they needed to have a big discussion.
The actress continues, “So Paul came over that evening, and we really sat there for three hours going through the script page by page. He said: ‘What do you think? Not much has changed?’
So I said: ‘Okay, why don’t we start with page one?’ I pointed out every time I felt that my great scenes were taken away.” After that, Jovovich ultimately took on the lead role in the successful film series.
According to the actress, this was also the moment when their relationship began. Jovovich and Anderson have been married since 2009 and have three children.
