Daniel Radcliffe, the actor who portrayed the famous book character Harry Potter in eight films, explained on a late-night show why many children are not excited at all when they meet their idol in real life.
In the Late Night Show with Seth Meyers on April 10, 2024, Daniel Radcliffe discussed his Broadway play Merrily We Roll Along.
In this context, he also addressed his well-known role and explained why young fans of Harry Potter are totally disappointed when they meet him nowadays.

“This man is old”
The host mentioned in the conversation that he told his own children that the Harry Potter star was a guest and asked if they wanted to see him – a prompt no was the answer.
The reason for this was that Daniel Radcliffe no longer corresponds to the age of his film character and therefore does not look like the Harry Potter from the movies anymore.
The actor began his career as a child star at the age of 11 and essentially grew up alongside his character. The last film in the series, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, was released in 2011, which was 13 years ago.

The 34-year-old star took it with humor and said in response to a question that many young Harry Potter fans react very dejected when they meet him.
He further explained:
It often tends to be deeply disappointed, especially when it comes to very young children who probably have only seen the first one or two movies.
So they have a parent around my age saying, “That’s Harry Potter!” And the child says: “That’s not him! This man is old.“
Yeah, I think that’s the effect I have on many children.
