Many fans and players of various console and PC titles like Fortnite watch their favorite streamers play. Some of them are in eSports and play with such poor graphics that some ask the question: why even?
What is meant by “poor graphics”? In eSports, video settings hold great importance. Without proper adjustments, it could determine your victory or defeat. Therefore, many pro players game with lower graphic settings.
As illogical as it may sound, having lower visual settings can greatly increase your chances of winning in a firefight. That’s why many pro players tend to care less about aesthetic appeal and polished graphics.
Since eSports sometimes involves very high stakes, speed matters more than visual appeal.
Beautiful graphics don’t matter in eSports
What are the reasons for such graphic settings? What seems like pure torture to many viewers is normal daily life for eSports.
The visuals must be reduced to the bare minimum. This primarily concerns PC players. These changes are hardly possible on consoles. If you decide to game with low settings, you will benefit from the following advantages:
- Higher and consistent FPS – This refers to the frames your brain processes when looking at a display. High and, most importantly, consistent FPS provide a smoother gaming experience. In shooters, a smooth image is one of the keys to victory, as you can perfectly track every input from your opponent.
- Lower input lag – Input lag refers to the delay in how long it takes for your entered signal to be transmitted and visible in the game. So when you move your mouse, and your screen shows the change with a delay, that’s input lag.
If you reduce the details in your game, your hardware can fully concentrate on performance and is not busy generating detailed bushes or trees.
What differences are there in Fortnite? To illustrate this, we have provided you with two comparison images.
Comparing both images side by side, one realizes that at the lowest settings, many elements are lost. Shadows, colorful textures, and details disappear. What remains is a simple environment focusing on the essentials – constant FPS.
How noticeable are high FPS? With high FPS, you not only achieve a smoother image in gameplay, but you can also react better to movements. The higher the FPS, the deadlier you become.

Additionally, you won’t be at risk of getting lost in the breathtaking UE5 and its innovations. If you want to prove yourself in Fortnite’s competitive mode, you should try low graphic settings.
