Fortnite: Battle Royale has received a new airplane and a sword in Season 7. This changes everything for our author Jürgen!
This was my first contact with the airplane: When the new Update for Season 7 came on December 6, 2018, I actually just wanted to quickly go online to check the locations of the “Dance Prohibition Signs” from the Week 1 Challenge for my colleague Patrick.
Spoiler Alert: I didn’t get far. When I finally landed, there was already an Ice King (who buys all Battle Pass tiers for a lot of money just an hour after the Season starts?) and wanted to grab the dance challenge as well.
Instead of dancing with me, he wanted to kill me with the pickaxe.
First contact with airplane
This is how the airplane surprised me: Suddenly, bullets were whistling around me everywhere. But it wasn’t an opponent with a rifle, it was a damn airplane! It flew straight at us and riddled me with bullets. The Ice King, in turn, jumped into the sea in his desperation and drowned pitifully.
Shortly after, I was able to watch an exciting aerial duel between the airplane and another flyer in spectator view. The two machines circled each other and shot each other to pieces. Eventually, one crashed due to stupidity and got stuck on the ground.
It’s just like in Battlefield!
“Wow,” I thought: “This is just like in Battlefield!” Until now, Fortnite was mainly a game for me where I ran around, built buildings, and shot opponents. That suddenly airplanes were attacking would never have occurred to me before.
That’s why the airplanes are great fun for me: The planes bring a new, silly flair to the game for me. This is due to the totally ridiculous way they behave in the game. Many players have no idea how to steer the things and constantly crash planes into trees or cliffs.
Players who can handle them bring a good dose of chaos into the game. Because then, you are never safe from the planes and can be taken out from the air at any time. And then there are also crazy stunts like the one where Ninja captures two planes.
The sword is pure chaos!
The sword is my new favorite item: However, I find the new sword even cooler. Just the epic battles over the location of the blade are a real blast, and you can always expect action at Polar Peak.
Once you finally have the blade in your hands, you feel incredibly strong. Although you can still die pretty quickly as a noob, you already have better chances and can cause considerable chaos.
In the round when I got it, I immediately took out three opponents in a row. Eventually, I did get caught, but my kill statistics had already improved quite a bit.
I can totally understand why some professionals curse the sword in tournaments, but for the regular mode of Fortnite, it fits perfectly in my opinion.
Fortnite is more fun for me than ever before
That’s why the new items are perfect for me: For me, Fortnite remains a huge enjoyment that I play happily without ambition after work. Whether I die right away or get a few kills doesn’t matter to me as long as I am entertained.
And with the new additions like planes and swords, the game becomes more fun and lighthearted for me. Now we just need Thanos to return and challenge an ultimate duel of Infinity Blade and Infinity Gauntlet! That should be a blast.
