Fortnite: Battle Royale will soon have even more tournaments. A massive eSports tournament will take place in Vienna, and there is likely to be a special menu for upcoming tournaments appearing directly in the game soon.
Dev video leaks new feature? In an announcement video from Epic for the “Support a Content Creator“, a tab in the main menu was accidentally shown that is not yet in the game.
The version shown in the video was probably a developer build with new features. Hence, a tab named “Tournaments” was prominently displayed.
Data miners find more clues about upcoming tournaments: But what is behind the new tab? Some data miners have already found out. There is likely to be a dedicated selection menu for tournaments soon.
This way, you can easily register directly in the game and participate in smaller tournaments. This was previously only possible through secret functions in the Custom Games.
With the tournament tab, the whole process is likely to become much simpler. Also ideal for fans who want to get a taste of tournament action without having to jump right into the big professional tournaments.
Three new tournaments are known: The data miners have learned even more. There are likely to be three new tournaments soon:

The Friday tournament is likely optimal for newcomers to eSports who want to gain some initial experience.
What can be won? According to data mining, you can earn 6 points per match. For 20 points, you will receive a special pin.
New offline tournament in Vienna announced
Fortnite tournament at the gaming event GAME CITY: At the end of October, the event “GAME CITY” will take place again in Vienna. In this large gaming event, 76,000 gamers were present in 2017. In 2018, the event will feature a Fortnite tournament.
Fortnite tournament at GAME CITY: From October 19 to 21, 2018, the largest Fortnite tournament in the German-speaking region will take place during GAME CITY. The organizer is the “eSports Verband Österreich”.
How will the tournament in Vienna proceed?
- Around 5,000 players will compete against each other in several matches over three days.
- There will be a dedicated custom server from Epic on-site, as well as over 100 gaming stations.
- The rounds will take place on-site offline.
- You can register on-site. Participation is free.
- In each match, the winner and the runner-up will each win a golden ticket for the final on Sunday.
- The prize is an eSports weekend in a luxury hotel for two people and a Samsung high-end gaming monitor.
Since practically anyone can participate in the tournament and it is free, the competition in Vienna is likely to be optimal for newcomers and amateurs wanting to gain initial experience in eSports.
