In The Division 2, the current Technical Test shows that the Open Beta will be in a better state than the Private Beta. Here are initial opinions from testers.
Technical Test running: Until today, February 22, a short Technical Test of The Division 2 on PC is taking place. Only a limited number of players were invited.
According to Massive, this test only includes a portion of the Private Beta content. The goal is to test fixes and improvements based on user feedback so that the Open Beta experience runs as smoothly as possible.
However, testers have now discovered new content that was not present in the Private Beta. Since this Technical Test is meant to serve as a precursor to the Open Beta, one can expect that this content will also be available in the upcoming test phase for everyone.
The Open Beta runs from March 1 to March 4 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
New Mission, New Skill
New mission to see: While the Private Beta featured two story missions from the campaign, a third mission is visible in the current test. This one is called “Viewpoint Museum.” However, it is not playable yet – that may change in the Open Beta.
According to user reports, it is recommended from level 6. It takes place in the “Newseum” – a museum for journalism in Washington – and it involves fighting the True Sons.
Chem Launcher is available: The Chem Launcher is one of the 8 skills in The Division 2. It was not available in the Private Beta, but during the Technical Test, it can be tested at will.
What is a Chem Launcher? Essentially, it is a type of grenade launcher that fires certain chemicals. In the test, there is a
- flammable gas that can be ignited (Firestarter)
- and a sticky foam that immobilizes enemies for a short time (Riot Foam)
to see. According to YouTuber MarcoStyle, the Chem Launcher is a cool skill, but he is dissatisfied with the controls on PC. Apparently, you have to hold “E” while aiming.
Whether this content will make it into the Open Beta is still not confirmed. However, it is very likely. According to an intro screen of the test, the Chem Launcher will definitely be included in the Open Beta.

- NPC animations seem significantly better. They no longer teleport around or repeat the same lines constantly. However, one user claims that NPC teleports still occur rarely when enemies should actually be climbing somewhere.
- Character movement is less buggy than in the Private Beta.
- The character movement has slightly changed. Movements are smoother, sprinting feels quicker. Shooting also feels faster – the pace of the game is generally faster. Overall, the controls are now really good.
- The graphic quality overall seems improved.
- Enemies charging at you and beating you have a shorter attack range.
- Some sound bugs still occurred.
- No Delta errors, many players report.
Numerous users express optimism that the Open Beta of The Division 2 could already be in a really good state.
