Genshin Impact regularly brings events and related quests. When such a quest starts or continues the next day, a large announcement appears on the screen. This event announcement has already claimed several characters. MeinMMO reports what has happened.
What happens during an event announcement? When the announcement is displayed because of an event quest, you cannot move or skip the prompt.
Additionally, Genshin Impact continues running in the background as if the announcement wasn’t there: monsters attack you and you cannot deploy your glider while you are falling.
The display lasts a full 5 seconds and has caused some players to watch their runs in the spiral abyss get ruined as their characters died.
The community reacts with anger and schadenfreude
Two reddit users share their pain: arzenalvilkiss posted his contribution under “Event announcements can ruin your runs in the spiral abyss”:
The second user PH_007 also experienced this, but fortunately, he did not lose a character (via reddit). He still annoyedly asks in his title “(…) why is this [the event announcement] a thing?”
What’s so bad about it? When you’re in the spiral abyss and a character’s hit points drop to 0, you cannot revive them. If you are at the beginning of the challenge, that costs you the run, as the abyss has a total of three rooms that you must clear with a team.
How does the community react to it? One side of the community finds it funny, while the other is angry that Genshin Impact does not fix such issues. The reddit user pawstatze shares a similar story under PH_007’s post:

Occasionally, there are responses under the posts that say the makers of Genshin Impact need to fix such errors. However, most see it with humor and share similar stories and experiences due to the event announcement.
