Together with Patch 11.2, Teamfight Tactics brings its big Mid-Season update to Set 4 named “Festival of Beasts”. It removes some champions and traits from the game and introduces new ones. We at MeinMMO reveal what is changing.

What kind of update is this? Appropriately for the middle of Set 4, Riot Games is releasing the so-called Set 4.5. This includes some adjustments that aim to shake up the meta and remove some problematic champions.
The main changes at a glance:
- 20 champions will be removed
- 6 traits will be removed
- Some old champions will gain new traits
- There will be 21 new champions
- There will be 7 new traits

When will the new set be released? Set 4.5 can already be tried out on the PBE, the test server for LoL. The release is planned with Patch 11.2 on January 21.
What changes for existing champions
Which champions and traits will be removed? With the traits Dusk, Moonlight, Shadowy, Tormented, and Hunters, numerous combos that have dominated the meta in recent months will vanish Additionally, the Illusionists will also be removed.
Specifically, the following champions will be completely removed:
- Dusk: Vayne, Thresh, Casseiopeia, Riven, Lillia
- Moonlight: Lissandra, Aphelios, Sylas
- Shadowy: Evelynn, Kayn
- Hunters: Aphelios, Ashe, Warwick
- Illusionists: Ezreal, Lux
- Tormented: Kayne
- Other champions: Nami, Hecarim, Xin Zhao, Jhin, Jinx, Ahri
Which old champions will be reworked? However, some champions from the aforementioned origins will remain and instead gain new traits:
- Diana will change from Moonlight to Spirit
- Zed from Shadowy to Slayer
- Kindred from Hunter to Executioner
- Morgana from Illusionist to Syphon
These champions and origins are coming with Set 4.5
Executioner:
- Champions: Kindred, Kayle, Xayah
- Effect: Attacks and abilities always crit when health falls below a certain value – (2) 33 %, (3) 66 %, (4) 99 %.
- Our impression: The origin seems very strong at first glance and reminds us of Valkyrie from Set 3. Kayle could become a very strong carry.
Slayer:
- Champions: Zed, Olaf, Darius, Tryndamere, Samira
- Effect: Slayers have lifesteal that increases the lower their health is. They also deal bonus damage to enemies with less health – (3) 40 to 80 % lifesteal and bonus damage, (6) 80 to 160 % lifesteal and bonus damage
- Our impression: 6 Slayers seem very strong, but also require a Chosen character. Much will depend on how good the new Slayer characters are.
Dragonsoul:
- Champions: Tristana, Brand, Braum, Shyvana, Olaf, Aurelion Sol, Swain
- Effect: At the start of the fight, the ally with the highest health among the Dragonsouls receives the blessing of the dragon. As long as they are blessed, the unit gains bonuses and fires a beam of dragon flames every 5th attack, dealing a percentage of the target’s maximum health as magic damage. Upon death, this blessing transfers to the nearest ally of the Dragonsoul – (3) 40 ability power and attack speed, 40 % max health, (6) 80 ability power and attack speed, 80 % max health, (9) 200 ability power and attack speed, 200 % max health.
- Our impression: The buff is extremely strong, but it indirectly ensures that it first lands on the tanks. Due to the transfer, which cannot be controlled, it may take longer for it to reach the carries. Nevertheless, the origin looks promising.
Syphon:
- Champions: Morgana, Vladimir, Nasus, Swain
- Effect: All allies heal for the damage they deal with attacks or abilities – (2) 10 % for allies, 40 % for Syphoner, (4) 25 % for allies, 100 % for Syphoner.
- Our impression: A good addition with 2 units for the team, similar to how Mystics are currently used. 4 Syphoner teams will be rather rare.
Fabled:
- Champions: Neeko, Nautilus, Cho’Gath
- Effect: Abilities from Fableds receive additional effects
- Our impression: Since we cannot yet name the exact effects, it is difficult to assess this.
Daredevil:
- Champions: Samira
- Effect: With every basic attack, the Daredevil gains a new target. If this target is outside range, he rushes towards it. With each attack on a new target, the combo value increases. This rating resets upon casting a spell.
- Our impression: Another single origin for a character. The legendary champions are usually very strong, and Samira will be no exception. This origin could be either very strong or useless at the beginning. Riot will take time to balance it.
Blacksmith:
- Champions: Ornn
- Effect: After participating in a fight, Blacksmiths start forging an artifact item. The higher their star level, the faster they work. Once the artifact is finished, it can be granted to an ally. An ally can equip only one artifact.
- Our impression: With the additional artifacts, characters can be permanently strengthened, making Ornn a sought-after character, especially around level 7 and 8. All artifacts sound interesting, even if we do not yet know Infinity Force.
What else changes with Set 4.5? With the new set, 4 items similar to Neeko’s Help will be introduced:
- Loaded Dice can be placed on a champion, and then a new shop will be rolled. However, this will only contain champions that share the same traits as the selected one (there are no Chosen).
- The Reforger allows you to take items from a champion, which then transform into completely new items of the same tier (combined, not combined).
- With the Magnetic Remover, you can remove all items from a champion.
- The Training Dummy spawns a unit that takes no space but can be attacked by the opponent.
However, all players will receive these items at the same time and in exactly identical form. They appear either at Stage 2-1, 3-1, 4-1, or not at all.
In addition to these innovations, there are also numerous balance adjustments to old origins, traits, and items.
