This is the announcement: As Gearbox announced in the Borderlands Show, Borderlands 3 will be available for free for a few days in November. More specifically: this weekend. It starts today:
- the event starts on Thursday, November 21
- and ends on Sunday, November 24.
On these days, Borderlands 3 will be available for free on Xbox One and Playstation 4.
What time does it start today? We do not know. A specific time is still missing.
We expect it to start late tonight. Many updates for Borderlands 3 come just before midnight German time – then the “free period” might also begin.

This is how you can test Borderlands 3 for free
Not everyone can join: Those who want to try Borderlands 3 can play the game for free on consoles this weekend. However, PC players and Google Stadia customers seem to be left out – more bad news for Stadia customers.
The progress made during the free weekend should be transferable if you decide to purchase the full version of the game.
The full version of Borderlands 3 will be 33% cheaper this weekend than usual. This also applies to the various special editions of the game.
What’s happening in Borderlands 3 right now? The timing is probably not coincidental. Just this week, the first story DLC of the game was announced. Additionally, this week a big patch is coming that will bring various improvements to the game that players have long wanted.
In addition, the “Bloody Harvest” Halloween event is currently also running in Borderlands 3, which is active until December 5. It becomes available from the moment you unlock Sanctuary III in the story.
