The new tactical shooter Veiled Experts (Steam) kicks off its Open Beta tonight, allowing you to access the servers for a week. What you can expect from the game, we will show you on MeinMMO.
Veiled Experts is a new Free2Play shooter on Steam developed and published by the South Korean company Nexon. The Open Beta is just around the corner:
- Beta Start – March 30, 2023, 9:00 PM
- Beta End – April 6, 2023, 9:00 PM
The title combines mechanics from Counter-Strike with hero shooter elements in third-person. A tiny bit of Battle Royale pressure keeps campers on their toes during matches.

Veiled Experts aims to shake up the tactical shooter genre
The developers let us play for a few hours back in February 2023. We were presented with a solid game featuring many familiar mechanics mixed in a refreshingly new way: Here you can find our preview report.
You have low precision when firing while moving, and between each round, there are purchase rounds – both mechanics are known from Counter-Strike. However, Veiled Experts is played in third-person, and there are purchasable items that count for the whole team.
Additionally, you can choose from different agents that allow for a variety of play styles. There are offensive, defensive, and supportive abilities. It’s not as colorful and crazy as in Overwatch, but still has a significant impact on the matches.
A touch of Battle Royale and Call of Duty also makes an appearance: during a match, the play area shrinks further and further, and you can buy powerful gadgets from the shop that resemble CoD killstreaks.
All of this takes place in the familiar “Search & Destroy” mode: five attackers must plant a bomb, while the defenders have two objectives to protect. However, other modes are planned:
- Bomb Defusal 3v3 / 5v5
- Team Deathmatch
- Free-for-all
- Team Deathmatch vs. AI
We currently do not know which modes will be available in the Open Beta. What is certain is that Bomb Defusal 5v5 will be included.
How can you play the Beta? Log in to Steam and visit the game page for Veiled Experts (via Steam). Here, you can request access and will receive immediate entry into the Open Beta.
This is, by the way, the last Beta before the final release. However, there is no specific date for that yet, but the shooter is expected to fully launch in Q2 2023.
Veiled Experts aims to finance itself through microtransactions, offering a Battle Pass and cosmetic items for the different heroes, referred to as “Experts” here. We found no indications of Pay2Win during our first playthrough.
