The Hearthstone community is angry after a nerf to the card Tess Greymane. They believe they deserve a refund.
A small patch for Hearthstone has brought some changes that have angered players. Officially, these changes are not considered a nerf, but merely bug fixes and adjustments to the mechanics. However, especially the card Tess Greymane of the Rogue class is now significantly weaker. Players are demanding a refund of the full value in Arcane Dust.
Tess has been weakened: The Rogue card Tess Greymane has a Battlecry that replays all card effects from other class cards. The update has now changed this mechanic. The maximum number of cards played is now 30. However, a much more serious issue is that the Battlecry ends immediately if Tess dies, is silenced, or is transformed during the Battlecry. For players, this is clearly a nerf, and they demand that Tess can be disenchanted for the full Arcane Dust cost.
The Yogg-Saron nerf was identical: The main argument from players is that the nerf to the card Yogg-Saron two years ago was identical. After an adjustment, the Battlecry also ended if Yogg-Saron was affected in any way (silenced, transformed, died). However, the full dust cost of 1600 was refunded at that time.
Tess was intentionally different: In this case, Blizzard cannot claim that Tess Greymane was faulty and they simply forgot to adjust her like Yogg-Saron. Because just two months ago, shortly before the release, Mike Donais from Blizzard confirmed that Tess would function like the “pre-nerf Yogg.” This was obviously intended.
Developers discuss the change: Blizzard has now responded to the fans’ criticism and at least announced on Twitter that they are discussing the changes to Tess Greymane internally. There may indeed be compensation – we will keep you updated.
