The fantasy MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online presented the new Imperial City in Update 7 at Quakecon in Dallas and revealed numerous new details. The Imperial City will come to PC-ESO at the end of August, and to Playstation 4 and Xbox One in mid-September.
Currently, Quakecon is taking place in Dallas, where Zenimax has introduced plans for the next DLC of the MMORPG The Elder Scrolls Online: the Imperial City.

The Imperial City is known from Oblivion and will bring new elements to ESO
- The Imperial City will mix PvE and PvP
- The Imperial City is already known to fans of the series from The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion; from the beginning, TESO aimed to make players feel like they have been here before.
- It features two PvE dungeons, along with a public dungeon with PvP elements, a massive spectacle
- In the Imperial City, it will be less about large battles and more about street fights, house and close combat, smaller skirmishes
- Everything is planned to take place against the “iconic” backdrop of the Imperial City, one of the most recognizable images from the Elder Scrolls series

- The Imperial City in The Elder Scrolls Online takes place centuries before the events in Oblivion
- This version is currently being plagued by a demon invasion
- This invasion is the climax of the first act of ESO, the final attempt by “Molag Bal” to bring about a merging of the planes
- Demons will patrol the streets, burn books – Why they are doing this will be part of a major mystery that players will gradually uncover: What does Molag Bal want? And why is a giant anchor hovering over the holiest of Tamriel?
- The Xivkyn will be Molag Bal’s elite troops, encountered by players in the sewers
- “Sweeper” bosses will wander through the districts, designed to handle larger groups of players – they are in motion and dangerous
Sewers and 6 districts: How to get to the Imperial City of The Elder Scrolls Online
- The Imperial City is entered through the sewers, which is a large public dungeon with activated PvP; here, each faction has its base
- You can “go to the surface” in the six districts of the Imperial City, each district has its own story
- With Update 7, the Imperial City will be accessible to players with ESO Plus; those without a quasi-subscription can purchase access permanently through crowns
PvE players will get their money’s worth: Dungeons and story
- There will be a “cross-over” story revolving around Molag Bal’s plans
- PvE players can teleport directly to the two new dungeons
- The Imperial City Prison is a 4-player dungeon corrupted by Daedra; since demons have been here longer, it resembles Coldharbour due to their influence
- White-Gold Tower is also a 4-player dungeon. The tower is the center of Tamriel. The demons want to merge it with Coldharbour through the Planemeld; players must find and preserve one of the Elder Scrolls
- Next week, the Imperial City is expected to go live on the PC test server
- Respawn points in the districts of the Imperial City will be located in “safe” and “somewhat elevated” areas, allowing players to consider whether to engage in battle
The Rewards of the Imperial City in The Elder Scrolls Online
- Drops will be stronger to match the level of crafted items
- A lot of new sets and weapons will be added to The Elder Scrolls Online, which can reach the new veteran rank 16
- 12 new dungeon sets, 6 from each of the two new dungeons; additionally, each will feature a monster mask from both dungeons – the old items can also be found at VR 16 with Update 7
- There will be two new crafting styles: Xivkyn and “Glass Armor” – the Xivkyn chapters can be found in treasure chests of the imperial city, they can be exchanged; the glass style is mainly learned through crafting writs
- There are 6 sets for Tel’Var stones
- Tel’Var stones are the adrenaline-pumping element we previously introduced
- 3 new craftable sets, additionally, all old sets can be crafted to VR 16 – there will be new materials that need to be gathered, either by deconstructing items or through the Tel’Var stones: Crafters should not be able to immediately craft the new equipment with Update 7
- Treasure Skamps are also a resource source.
- They are reworking 11 PvP sets
- The sets will consist of 7 pieces: If you equip 5 pieces, you will enjoy the special bonus
- New jewel mini-sets will be added to TESO. They will not trigger any great effects but simply increase stats
- No matter what playstyle you prefer, you should be able to obtain the best items in the game: As a crafter, PvE player or PvP player – this is the goal
