In Destiny 2 the new Season 17 has started, bringing some new features. This includes an emote that can currently be purchased in the shop – and it has enchanted many fans.
What kind of emote is this? The new emote is called “Faithful Companion” and fulfills a long-held wish for many Destiny 2 players in the new Season 17: Finally, you can pet a dog in the game!
The description reads “Forever the best friend of a Guardian”. When you summon the dog using the gesture, your new companion receives a little pet on the head and then stays by your side until you move away from that spot.
How to get the emote: You can currently get the exotic gesture only in the shop, in exchange for 1,000 Silver. You can only obtain Silver in exchange for real money – 1,000 Silver is roughly equivalent to 9.99 Euros.
100% of the proceeds from this emote are supposed to go to charity for the Bungie Foundation. This is also one of the reasons why the emote is so well-received by many players – and of course, because you can pet a dog.
New Dog Emote in Destiny 2 Makes Waves on Reddit
This is how fans are reacting: A short clip of the emote was shared in the “gaming” subreddit, which quickly became one of the top posts. Currently, the post has received over 42,000 upvotes and more than 900 comments.
Many comments praise the new gesture in Destiny 2:

Many people are just happy that they can finally pet a dog now, after previously only being able to pet cats and chickens.

The dog is said to be a real Belgian Shepherd named Artemis. This dog apparently plays an important role in the story of a special Guardian around “resilience, recovery, and triumph, which was only made possible through the Destiny community and his dog Artemis”.
Bungie wants to reveal what exactly is behind it on “Bungie Day”. So we have to wait and see.
In general, animal companions and similar topics come up in various games from time to time. In Elden Ring, for example, fans had fun simply calling every animal a dog. However, things got confusing when a guy appeared, who wanted to live in the game as a turtle.
