The Chinese publisher Tencent Games has presented its game arsenal for 2017. 28 games were presented at the UP conference. The long-awaited Lost Ark is missing.
Tencent Games is a gaming giant in China with ambitions to also play a role in the global market.
Tencent recently introduced the “WeGame” platform, which they want to compete with Steam. Tencent has secured several games from the West for “WeGame”, which will not be available in China anymore via Steam, but only through WeGame.
At the Up conference, Tencent has now presented its new games for 2017: There are 28.
Paladins, Paragon, Transformers Online are all ready to launch in China
For PC, these are:
Need for Speed-Edge – will enter a no-wipe state in summer, thus in a soft launch
Rocket League – is included in this “WeGame” deal
Deformers – a third-person smash ’em arena game
Paragon – The action MOBA will enter beta in April – also included in the WE deal
Paladins – The hero shooter will start its soft launch in July 2017, was also in the WeGame deal
Lost Ark missing: Due to conflict with South Korea? Or is it simply not ready yet?
It is noticeable that “Lost Ark” is missing. The South Korean hack ‘n slash was actually announced and positioned prominently in previous years. Many Western fans are also waiting for this game – it is considered a sort of “Next Gen Diablo.”
We have already reported that a military conflict between South Korea and China could cause Lost Ark to have difficulties in China. It involves an American missile defense system that South Korea has installed to protect against nuclear bombs from North Korea. China is not in agreement with this, fears too much US presence in the region, and has therefore imposed sanctions on South Korea.
The site 2p, which specializes in Asia, believes: These problems could indeed affect Lost Ark in China. Because a game needs a license from the Chinese government to be distributed. 2p speaks of a “soft ban” and that Lost Ark in China could be delayed indefinitely.
It could also be that there are delays in the development of Lost Ark and the game is simply not ready yet to be presented here.

In addition to the 9 PC games, there are also 6 indie titles in the “A.C.E.” program and a total of 14 mobile titles. Among them “Lineage 2 Revolution”, a South Korean hit.
Apparently, these titles, which are based on older South Korean licenses like Lineage or MapleStory, have no problems obtaining a license in China.
