The survival game Valheim constantly challenges you to improve with its boss fights. By now, many of you have likely seen all the bosses – but which one was the hardest for you?
In Valheim, everything revolves around fighting and honoring the Allfather Odin. Currently, there are five bosses in the game that you can defeat in epic battles.
Unlike “normal” enemies, they attack you with special abilities, making them significantly tougher than simple Greydwarfs or trolls. Furthermore, they have considerably more health points, which can make a fight last several minutes.
Bosses are also a core mechanic in Valheim and serve as a kind of milestone for the game’s story. You must defeat a boss to advance to the next tier of equipment – at least that’s the plan.
The process is actually meant to be that you gradually prepare for the boss fight and then confront it with the best equipment available to you. This way, Valheim is loosely divided into chapters that can be played through and make boss fights feel incredibly rewarding.
Tell us which boss scares you
Each biome in the game has its own boss. Currently, there are five biomes that are fully playable, and thus five bosses. In order, they are:
- Eikthyr, the Thunder-Deer in the meadows – Your first major opponent
- The Elder in the dark forest, the father of the Greydwarfs
- Bone mass in the swamp, a living mass of dead flesh and decay
- Moder in the mountains, the dragon mother who wants to protect her children
- Yagluth in the plains, the “uncrowned” king and now a giant goblin skeleton
In the future, there are plans for more biomes and thus more bosses, which may take some time. The upcoming Mistlands biome and its boss could however disgust you quite a bit.
But for now, we want to know from you which boss you found the hardest. Vote and tell us where you had the biggest problems. Even if you defeated all bosses with ease, you surely had a few tough moments somewhere.
Let us know in the comments which boss you found particularly difficult – or particularly entertaining. What new bosses and mechanics would you like to see in the future?
Some players find both the bosses and the whole game easier than expected. That’s why there are already crazy Vikings who set their own challenges – for example, defeating no boss other than the last one. Why not try that too if you find the bosses too easy?
Have you defeated all the bosses yourself? Do you want to keep playing for a while but don’t know exactly what to do? Valheim offers plenty of content that can keep you entertained for many hours even after defeating Yagluth:
