Guilds are an important part of MMORPGs, but everyone has their own ideas of what a “good” guild is. What are yours?
These are guilds in MMORPGs: The concept of guilds has existed in MMORPGs almost since the genre’s inception. Usually, a guild is simply a group of players with shared interests who complete content in the game together.
Over time, developers have integrated new features into their games to make guilds more interesting and appealing to players. This includes, not least, guild housing, which is available in some MMORPGs, or various other bonuses that players can utilize when joining a guild.
Thanks to the diverse content of MMORPGs, guilds can also have different focuses and cater to different types of players:
- Some players value a friendly atmosphere within the guild.
- Some players expect the guild leadership to organize events for the members.
- For some players, the skill level within the guild matters, especially if it is a raiding guild.
- Some players appreciate that guilds offer options for voice chat, such as a dedicated Discord server or TeamSpeak.
- Some players prefer very large guilds where there is always a lot going on.
- Others prefer smaller, quieter guilds where everyone knows each other well.
