The internet provider Telekom is now also planning to include a streaming service for games in its list of services. This would put the company in direct competition with Google Stadia.
What is Magenta Gaming? With Magenta Gaming, the provider Telekom wants to send its own entry into the cloud gaming services race. Similar to Google Stadia, users of the gaming service will be able to stream a specific selection of games directly to their chosen devices.
Thanks to a decentralized server network, latency during streaming should be kept as low as possible. For the beta phase, a value of under 50 milliseconds is mentioned for a stream in Full HD and 60 FPS in stereo.
At launch, 4K resolution and 5.1 surround sound should be possible.
What games does Magenta Gaming offer? On the official page, Magenta Gaming presents a wide selection of various games that are already on the service’s list.
These include large and well-known titles such as Witcher III, League of Legends or the Sniper series, but also smaller popular indie games like Evoland or Shape of the World. At the start of the first closed beta test, over 100 games will be available to customers for free.

Gaming also without a current PC
How is this supposed to work? The idea is that games work independently of the hardware – the computing power does not come from the device used, but from the cloud. Ultimately, users should be able to play the games on older PCs, smartphones, tablets, or smart TVs via an app.

What will the fun cost? As for the price of the streaming service, Telekom has not yet commented. There is also no information on what the payment model of Magenta Gaming will look like.

At the start of the beta phase, more than 100 games will be available for free.
Can I already test Magenta Gaming? Visitors of gamescom 2019 will be able to register for the beta test of the service. Registration for everyone will start on August 24 on the official page of the streaming service. The number of spots is limited and requires a bandwidth of at least 50 Mbit/s.
Also on August 24, the gamescom visitors will be able to test the service directly on-site, as Telekom will present the service for the first time on various devices that day.
