The Batman has presented superheroes in a dark and detective manner again after a long time. A second part has already been confirmed, but we still have to wait a bit for that. However, Gotham is returning this year from the perspective of an iconic villain.
The Batman by Matt Reeves was a major highlight for superhero fans in 2022. The film was dark, brutal, and showcased the detective skills of the well-known hero on the big screen. The release of the second part is still a few years away, but this year we can get to know Gotham again.
This time, the city is seen through the eyes of the Penguin, who is once again portrayed by Colin Farrell and focuses on a gangster story. HBO gives us the first look at the new series in a new teaser trailer.
In the series The Penguin, Colin Farrell will once again embody Oswald Cobblepot, that is, the Penguin, just like in the film. The iconic Batman villain is a mafia boss, wreaking havoc in Gotham and controlling parts of the underworld. Previously, the character was portrayed by Danny DeVito, who encountered Batman again at the Oscars.
In the trailer, we see him talking about an old gangster who inspired him with his iconic cigar. The perspective and mood of the conversation strongly remind one of The Sopranos and Tony Soprano talking with his psychiatrist.
There are also smaller action glimpses that focus on the essentials in such a series – small weapons, knives, or blunt instruments. The trailer already shows the greatest focus: Colin Farrell as the Penguin.
His presence in the film and in the trailer already indicates that the actor has the skills and that one can look forward to his interpretation of the character. One simply cannot look away from him. The comments under the YouTube video also mainly refer to the actor and his appearance.
In the YouTube comments, the appearance of the Penguin is a major topic, as the makeup and costume are so good that one can barely recognize the famous actor.

Colin Farrell clearly looks like he loves to completely disappear into this role. I was very impressed with his performance in Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’. I am very much looking forward to this series.
Most users are extremely excited about the series, which is said to be released in the fall according to the teaser.
