There is lively discussion about the Champion Combo of Assassin and Void in Teamfight Tactics. It is currently the strongest combo in Patch 9.18, and if played correctly, it cannot be countered. We will show you how to win with this combo.

What combo are we talking about? This guide is all about the Void creatures and Assassins. Due to the absolute damage of the Void creatures and the burst from Assassins, it is currently extremely strong.
However, those who think that the combo is quite easy to play may fall into a trap that many in LoL Chess do.
Just because the combo seems easy to obtain, errors can happen, and you can quickly lose a game.
This guide aims to give you a sense of when and how you should play the combo. We have presented more good combos for Patch 9.18 here.
Which champions does the combo require? The combo of Void creatures relies on 7 champions:
- Rek’Sai or Cho’Gath – Void creature
- Kassadin – Void creature + Assassin (via an item)
- Kha’Zix – Void creature + Assassin
- Zed – Assassin
- Pyke – Assassin
- Evelynn – Assassin
- Katarina or Rengar – Assassin
This is the lineup for Patch 9.18. With the next update, a new champion from the Void creatures will be introduced. Kai’Sa is also an Assassin and will be included in this combo.
Don’t try it without Spatula
When should you play the combo? Before deciding whether to collect Void creatures and Assassins, an important prerequisite must be met:
- You must receive a Spatula from the first or second carousel round (right at the start or in Stage 2-4).
This item is extremely important, because you absolutely want to turn Kassadin into an Assassin with Youmuu’s Ghostblade. This way, you will have two champions who are both a Void creature and an Assassin at the same time with Kha’Zix.
You should also pay attention in Stage 2-4 that not too many other players are also collecting Void creatures and Assassins. If you are more than 3 who are going for this combo, you should immediately change your strategy, as you will not get important champions to level 3 otherwise.
What has the highest priority in the combo? If you have secured Spatula as an item, then there is a good chance that the combo will pay off. Now it is important to get an overview of the key points:
- For champions, it is important that you get Kassadin, Kha’Zix, and ideally one more Assassin at level 3.
- Kassadin is your carry and should receive Youmuu’s Ghostblade along with a Rapid Firecannon (2x Recurve Bow). The third item is debated, but many swear by Infinity Edge (2x Giant’s Blade).
- If you get two Spatulas, Rek’Sai or Cho’Gath should also receive Youmuu’s Ghostblade.
This is how to collect the champions and items correctly
How does a round in the game proceed? In this section, we refer to the reddit post by naturesbfLoL, a TFT Challenger player. He has described the individual phases of the game in great detail.
The Early Game:
- Stage 1: Collect pirates, Void creatures, and Zed, sell champions for interest (that is, to reach 10G/20G, etc.) when necessary/possible.
- Stage 2: Make your board weak unless you manage to play with three pirates. Your goal is to collect as much gold as possible through a losing streak and be the first to get items in the carousel.
- Stage 2-4: Collect a Giant’s Blade or a Recurve Bow in the carousel.
- Stage 2-6: Roll new champions until you have two level-2 champions. Use 3 Assassins to defeat the NPCs.
When to roll and when to save gold?
The Mid Game:
- Stage 3-2: Roll until you get Kassadin to level 3 or run out of money. Meanwhile, collect all Zeds, Pykes, Kha’Zixes, and Rek’Sais that you find. After this round, save gold again.
- Stage 4-1: Roll until you are strong enough. You are usually strong enough with two or three level-3 champions. Kassadin has the highest priority, followed by Zed, Kha’Zix, and then Rek’Sai.
- From Stage 4-2: When you are strong enough, level up to level 6 sometime in the following rounds and then start collecting Evelynn and Rengar/Katarina.
The End Game:
- Stage 5-1: Here you should level up to level 7 and have 3 Void creatures and 6 Assassins on the board. From here on, try to get your champions to level 3.
- A higher level only makes sense to a certain extent. If you reach level 8, use Gnar as another Wild champion that fits Rengar.
- Avoid items like Zephyr or Phantom Dancer in large rounds and use damage items or Dragon Claw for your carries.
If the new rollout of the champions does not go disastrously, you should take home the victory with this strategy.
