In Teamfight Tactics, the next champion is ready to enter the arena. He was teased via Twitter and is now available for testing on the PBE.
Who is the new champion? While this week saw the introduction of four new Hextech champions, Riot Games already has the next new character up its sleeve.
After the major rework in the last patch of League of Legends, Pantheon is now joining Teamfight Tactics. The developers gave us a first glimpse of the champion in a Twitter video.
The teaser even reveals Pantheon’s origin and class:
A new dragon enters the stage
What can Pantheon do? Pantheon is a dragon and represents the Guardian class. He will thus receive two attributes, which have previously only been filled by exactly two champions.
Many players already envision him in a Sorcerer combo with Aurelion Sol and Leona. This would provide the otherwise weak mages with significant armor while simultaneously making Aurelion Sol, who has been a strong champion since the game’s release, nearly immune to incoming magic damage.
However, fulfilling these two roles comes at a cost. He will be a legendary champion, thus costing 5 gold and will be hard to find.
What skill does Pantheon have? The ultimate ability “Grand Starfall” causes Pantheon to leap into the air and then descend onto the farthest enemy after a short delay.
Along the way, he stuns enemies and deals damage to all targets in his path, proportional to their maximum health.
Is Pantheon too strong in his current form?
How is Pantheon being received so far? On reddit, initial opinions and videos about the new champion have been shared. The user cullenmccormick has posted a video showing Pantheon used alongside Sorcerers.
It is notable that his ability deals an immense amount of damage. At the same time, he makes the mages around him more defensive. Some players are already calling for a nerf for him.
When will Pantheon be released? The new champion is currently only playable on the PBE server but will likely find his way into the live version soon.
The next major patch 9.17 is expected to be released on August 29 and might already include Pantheon. However, a small balance patch for TFT will be released a week prior.
Have you already had experiences with Pantheon on the PBE? How do you like the combination of his attributes?
