Next week the patch 9.20 for Teamfight Tactics will be released and will bring some balance changes. It is expected to mark the end of the first set.

What does patch 9.20 bring? Mortdog, the Lead Designer of TFT, has released an overview for the upcoming patch 9.20 on Twitter. You can look forward to various balance changes, but there are no major new features.
However, you will have to do without content such as champions or an entire origin like with the Hextechs this time. Mortdog also mentioned the reason for this.
Teamfight Tactics is currently at the end of the first set. However, the next update could turn everything in the game upside down.
What are sets? To keep TFT interesting, there will be rotations between champion sets. Instead of continuously bringing more champions into the game, old champions and even entire origins simply make way for new groups.
However, they will not be completely deleted but are intended to return in future sets. Origins and champions will be mixed up more colorfully in the future.
As we have now reached the end of the first set, major new features are being saved for set 2. Which champions and origins will rotate out and which will rotate in is not yet known. However, the changes are expected to be larger, which is why patch 9.20 is somewhat smaller now.
Nerfs for almost all meta combos, buffs for Gunslingers
What will be nerfed in patch 9.20? Although there are no major innovations, at least something could change with the current meta, which is currently dominated by Wilds and Assassins.
Both will receive a significant nerf in this patch. The exact numbers come from the last update on the test server and may vary until the release on Wednesday:
- Assassins – The crit chance will be reduced from 10% to 5% for 3 assassins and from 20% to 15% for 6 assassins. Patch 9.19 had already significantly reduced the crit chance.
- Wilds – The attack speed will be reduced from 12% to 10%.
- Additionally, the Frozen Heart will be weakened, from which the assassin Pyke profited significantly.
The only combo that could beat Wilds and Assassins was the Knights. There will also be nerfs for them:
- Knights – The blocked damage for 6 knights will be reduced from 65 to 60.
- There will also be a nerf for Poppy.
In addition to these changes, there will also be small nerfs for the following content:
- Akali
- Infinity Edge
- Thief’s Gloves
Who benefits from the patch? Buffs will especially benefit Gunslingers. Their bonus will be significantly strengthened:
- Gunslingers – The additional attacks at 4 Gunslingers will increase from 2 to 3 and at 6 Gunslingers from 3 to 5.
- Additionally, there are buffs for Lucian and Gangplank, who are also Gunslingers.
With the patch, the new champion Kai’Sa will be strengthened. She will receive more bonus attack speed and a stronger shield.
Patch 9.20 will also improve:
- Death’s Blade
- Mercury
- Guardian
- Fiora
- Aatrox
- Volibear
- Morgana
When does patch 9.20 come out? Patch 9.20 is set to be released next Wednesday, October 9. Shortly after, there will be an update for the test server.
Then we will also know whether set 2 will continue immediately or whether we will have to wait longer for major innovations.
