You might soon be playing LoL and Teamfight Tactics on your mobile. This allows for a new streaming app from Tencent. We will show you how it works and what the gameplay looks like.
What kind of app is this? The Chinese publisher Tencent, the company behind League of Legends, recently announced a new mobile streaming app. This allows PC players to play their games on smartphones running Android and iOS.
Industry expert Daniel Ahmad translated the information from Tencent and explains that the app is related to Tencent’s WeGame platform. It’s kind of like Steam in China. Over 300 million users are registered on WeGame.
Once you have downloaded the new app, you can stream games that are in your own WeGame library.
However, you must be on the same network as the PC that streams these games. Playing the games on the go is therefore not yet possible. Riot Games is currently not ruling out a mobile version of Teamfight Tactics.
So this works similarly to the Steam Link feature that can also be used here. This streams a PC with Steam so that you can comfortably play in the living room on the TV while your PC in the office does the processing work.
How do you play LoL with the app? As Daniel Ahmad reports, the app currently only streams LoL and its Teamfight Tactics mode. You can see what playing with this app looks like in the following video:
Why can we not play yet? It is still unclear whether the new streaming service will also be available outside of China. Tencent has already released an international version of WeGame, WeGame X. Whether the app will follow, allowing you to stream games on your smartphone, is not known.
Rumors suggest that Tencent and Riot Games are working on a mobile version of LoL. It is rather unlikely that this refers to the streaming feature of WeGame.
