The new patch 9.19 for Teamfight Tactics is here and it brought some changes. We will tell you which combos are currently strong and which new items are being used.
Who dominates the meta? Currently, two champion groups are particularly popular:
- Yordle
- Transformers
Yordles received a 9 bonus with patch 9.19, which can theoretically be achieved with a new spatula item. Transformers were already popular in the meta of patch 9.18 and remain so despite nerfs. However, many now rely only on the 3 bonus.
Since Yordles are used frequently, Wild champions are also making their way to the top. The 4 bonus is currently the only effective counter against dodging.
About the list: This tier list is based on personal experiences, initial discussions in the TFT Reddit, and watched streams. It makes no claim to completeness. The order is based on our assumption of which champion combos will become the most popular.
Dragons, Yordle, Sorcerers
What does the combo consist of?
- Shyvanna – Dragon/Transformer + Yordle through Item
- Aurelion Sol – Dragon/Sorcerer
- Veigar – Yordle/Sorcerer
- Lulu – Yordle/Sorcerer
- Poppy – Yordle/Knight
- Kennen – Yordle/Ninja/Elementalist
- Gnar – Yordle/Transformer/Wild
- Nidalee – Wild/Transformer
These synergies does the combo have:
- 2x Dragon
- 6x Yordle
- 3x Transformer
- 3x Sorcerer
- 2x Wild
- 1x Ninja
Carry of the team:
- Aurelion Sol – Guinsoo’s/Morellonomicon/Rabadon’s
- Kennen – Guardian Angel/Morellonomicon
What makes them so strong? Thanks to the new item Gloves (Fist + Spatula), a champion can become a Yordle. Shyvanna is perfectly suited for this, as a dragon she becomes resistant to magic damage and as a Yordle can dodge many attacks from opponents.
Aurelion Sol and Kennen deal extremely high damage in the combo, while Shyvanna can tank everything in the front.
Alternatives in the build? If you find Swain later in the game, you should replace Nidalee. Swain is stronger than the Wild bonus for Gnar.
If you do not find a spatula to turn Shyvanna into a Yordle, a switch to demons is advisable:
- Morgana comes in for Veigar
- Brand comes in for Poppy
By doing so, you may forfeit the 6x Yordle bonus, but you will gain the 2x Demon bonus and with Brand a strong champion.
Imperial, Wild, Transformers
What does the combo consist of?
- Warwick – Wild/Brawler
- Ahri – Wild/Sorcerer
- Nidalee – Wild/Transformer
- Gnar – Wild/Transformer
- Swain – Imperial/Demon/Transformer
- Katarina – Imperial/Assassin
- Darius – Imperial/Knight
- Draven – Imperial/Blade Master
These synergies does the combo have:
- 4x Imperial
- 4x Wild
- 3x Transformers
Carry of the team:
- Draven – Bloodthirster/Fastfire Rifle/Guinsoo’s
What makes the combo so strong? Already in patch 9.18, Yordles were popular. Due to the removal of the Fastfire Rifle bonus, only 4x Wild can guarantee that the Yordle champions die.
In line with the Wild, Draven is used, one of the strongest champions in the game. This combo is the perfect counter to the previous Yordle combo.
Alternatives in the build? Instead of Ahri, you can also take Rengar. If you still find a spatula, you could turn a champion into a third assassin with Yoomu’s Ghostblade.
Void Creatures, Brawler, Sorcerer, Robot
What does the combo consist of?
- Blitzcrank – Robot/Brawler
- Vi – Hextech/Brawler
- Cho’Gath – Void Creature/Brawler
- Rek’Sai – Void Creature/Brawler
- Kai’Sa – Void Creature/Assassin/Archer
- Kassadin – Void Creature/Sorcerer
- Aurelion Sol – Dragon/Sorcerer
- Twisted Fate – Pirate/Sorcerer

- 4x Void Creature
- 1x Robot
- 4x Brawler
- 3x Sorcerer
Carry of the team:
- Twisted Fate – 2x Statikk’s Stiche/Silence
- Cho’Gath – Guardian Angel/Morellonomicon/Warmogs
What makes the combo so strong? The brawlers Vi and Blitzcrank have received a buff thanks to the new patch, especially Blitzcrank deals a lot of damage with his skill.
In order to frequently activate the ability, Twisted Fate and his blue card are used. Therefore, he is equipped with Statikk’s Stiche, so he can continuously use the ability.
Additionally, there is the absolute damage of the Void Creatures, the additional damage from Sorcerers, and the defense of four brawlers.
Alternatives in the build? Until you find the new champion Kai’Sa, you can use Kha’Zix as the fourth Void Creature. Instead of Twisted Fate, another Sorcerer can be used if all players are currently collecting TF.
Gunslingers, Blade Master, Hextech
What does the combo consist of?
- Yasuo – Exile/Blade Master
- Shen – Ninja/Blade Master
- Aatrox – Demon/Blade Master
- Camile – Hextech/Blade Master
- Gankplank – Pirate/Blade Master/Gunslinger
- Lucian – Noble/Gunslinger + Blade Master through Item
- Miss Fortune – Pirate/Gunslinger
- Jinx – Hextech/Gunslinger
These synergies does the combo have:
- 1x Exile
- 4x Gunslinger
- 6x Blade Master
- 2x Hextech
- 1x Ninja
Carry of the team:
- Gankplank – Guardian Angel/Morellonomicon
- Lucian – Blade of the Ruined King/Silence/Last Breath
What makes the combo so strong? In recent months, combos with Blade Masters and Gunslingers have appeared repeatedly. Their damage is extreme because they directly attack multiple times or hit multiple targets.
However, the combo has problems against Yordles and strong CC, against which it can do little.
Alternatives in the build? Until you find Miss Fortune, use Graves as a Gunslinger. In early game, it may also make sense to include a third pirate for additional gold.
Up until you receive Jinx, you can also keep Tristana in the team. However, it is important that you do not heavily invest in Graves and Tristana and waste gold on them.
Ice Beasts, Phantom, Archers, Demon
What does the combo consist of?
- Braum – Ice Beast/Protector
- Sejuani – Ice Beast/Knight
- Ashe – Ice Beast/Archer
- Kindred – Phantom/Archer + Ice Beast through Item
- Varus – Demon/Archer
- Kai’Sa – Void Creature/Assassin/Archer
- Mordekaiser – Phantom/Knight
- Aatrox – Demon/Blade Master

- 2x Phantom
- 4x Archer
- 4x Ice Beast
- 2x Demon
- 2x Knight
Carry of the team:
- Ashe – Guinsoo’s/Hurricane/Last Breath
- Kai’Sa – Guinsoo’s/Giant Slayer
What makes the combo so strong? There’s really not much more to say about this combo. Ice Beasts and Ashe provide good CC, while the Archers, now boosted by the new champion Kai’Sa, deal damage.
Alternatives in the build? Instead of making Kindred into an Ice Beast, you can also turn Sejuani into a Demon with Spatula. This way, she uses her ultimate ability faster. Afterwards, you can replace Aatrox with another Ice Beast like Lissandra or in the late game Anivia.
Until you find Kai’Sa, you should continue to rely on the archer Vayne for the 4 bonus.
Dragons, Wild, Transformers, Sorcerers

What makes the combo so strong? The Wild bonus makes the combo a good counter to Yordle builds. Additionally, it also utilizes the strength of the two dragons Shyvanna and Aurelion Sol.
Furthermore, it only requires 7 characters and no 5-gold champion. Therefore, it is easy to obtain and still has room for Kennen or other supports.
Alternatives in the build? In this build, only Twisted Fate is fundamentally interchangeable if he is too highly contested. However, he provides good mana for Aurelion Sol and is therefore popular.
Assassins and Ninjas
What does the combo consist of?

- Shen – Ninja/Blade Master
- Zed – Ninja/Assassin
- Akali – Ninja/Assassin

What makes the combo so strong? Ninjas received a small buff in the new patch when you have all four of them. Assassins have been in the meta since the beginning of the game and manage to do so again this time.
Alternatives in the build? Until you find Kai’Sa, you can use another assassin. However, you want to find Kai’Sa because she is strong and activates the Void Creature bonus.
In an alternative, three assassins, four ninjas, and three elementalists are currently being played.
