An Indonesian team made a catastrophic mistake at the “Bucharest Minor” tournament in the MOBA DOTA 2. The team was seconds away from a certain victory but failed to realize and instead surrendered while typing “GG”.
This is how you lose a MOBA game: The objective in every MOBA is to destroy the opponent’s “Ancient”. That is their headquarters. You protect your own headquarters while gradually tearing down the opponent’s defenses and ultimately kill the Ancient.
You can either do this yourself or with the help of minions (or creeps). These are AI-controlled mobs that rush towards the enemy base like little battle lemurs.
There are two ways to lose:
- either by having your own Ancient destroyed
- or by deciding to “surrender.” For this, the majority of the team must capitulate through a vote. Traditionally, one says “GG” – “Good Game,” as a sign that one is a good loser and is only crying quietly.
