The gaming YouTuber Guy “DrDisrespect” Beahm (40) has established an image over the years as a tough macho streamer, who won a meaningless video game competition 30 years ago and still lives off his fame today. And what’s missing to complete the monster mustache, giant ego, and sunglasses? His own bourbon. The $65 bottle was snatched from his hands.

- Guy Beahm was pretty down in 2016: He had just left his job as a developer at Call of Duty, lived with his wife and newborn child in a rough neighborhood, and could see drugs being dealt outside on the street. He began his career as a full-time streamer.
- Today, 6 years later, Guy Beahm is not just any streamer, but a master at building and marketing himself as a brand. The former Call of Duty developer has created an alter ego with “DrDisrespect”, complete with his own backstory and image. Even a catastrophic career setback couldn’t change his success.
- Now he has launched a new bourbon variety as Herschel “Guy” Beahm IV.
DrDisrespect shares video – website crashes under pressure
This was the new action: A new product, a bourbon whiskey, was released yesterday, November 17, via a video on a website. The drink is called “Black Steel Bourbon”.
The bottle cost $65.
DrDisrespect shared the post from the bourbon site via his Twitter account and reached almost a million views in a short period. He even stated that the site couldn’t handle the traffic and crashed.
Just 2 hours later came the news: The bourbon is already completely sold out. The “launch day was a success – The taste of victory has just begun” (via twitter).
How many bottles were sold is not known.
Whiskey was distilled by a master distiller
What kind of whiskey is this? The “Black Steel” is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, with 93 Proof. This corresponds to an alcohol content of approximately 46.5% Vol – so it’s strong stuff.
It is said that the bourbon was made by a “award-winning master distiller” and has a “smooth, yet distinctly wild flavor.” There are hints of green apples, vanilla, and citrus fruits, along with notes of charred wood and sweet corn.
As the website “Whiskeyraiders” notes, the whiskey was distilled by Marianne Eaves, the first female master distiller since the Prohibition era. She has likely been working on the brand since May, according to the whiskey site.
Already in November 2021, DrDisrespect announced plans to launch such a drink.
Black Steel explicitly advertises with Guy Beahm and his alter ego DrDisrespect. It is said that his obsession with whiskey and winning has destined him to create the most delicious whiskey: That’s how victory tastes.
What’s behind it: Alcohol is now practically marketed solely through image and story: Rum tastes of revolution and piracy, gin is classy, comes from nature, and is rooted in homelands, whiskey is for the hard-working man who carries the world on his shoulders.
It’s almost logical that the streamer, who has always told the best story about himself, would achieve great success with this.
