How to Get a Fishing Rod
To fish in Tarisland, you first need a fishing rod. You unlock it by progressing further in your main story. Once you are far enough, you can go to angler Fabian Schwarzwumme for a quest.
He will hand you the first simple fishing rod and send you on a small fishing trip. During this, you will learn the basics of fishing.
These Minigames You Must Complete While Fishing
In Tarisland, there are three different baits for fishing. Depending on the bait, you can catch different fish and must play various minigames.
- With the regular Mithril bait, you simply need to reel in your line before the time runs out. To do this, press the fishing button as quickly as you can.
- With the Bionic bait, you need to watch out for the shark that wants to eat your fish. Keep your rod in the left area of the display until the shark has dived down. Once the shark has dived down (the display lights up blue), press the fishing button as quickly and often as you can to reel in the line.
- With the rune-decorated bait, you must pay close attention. Once you have a fish on the line, you have little time to bring your rod into the golden area. When time runs out, your rod must be within the area to catch the fish.
How to Get Better Baits in Tarisland
To catch better fish, you can use better baits. In addition to the regular Mithril bait, you also have access to the bionic bait and the rune-decorated bait.
- You receive the bionic bait as one of the blue items from the “Reward of Destiny” where you can open packages similarly to Counter Strike to obtain rewards such as skins. Additionally, you can exchange your friendship badges in the friends shop for it.
- The rune-decorated bait of the highest rarity can be obtained from the guild shop for 60 companion badges each.
Catch All Fish – What You Need
If you are trying to catch all the fish on every map to complete your exploration in the fishing area to 6/6, you will quickly notice that the last fish is really difficult to catch.
All fish required for exploration can be caught with the simple Mithril bait. There is no need to use a better bait to catch all the fish for the collection. However, the chance to catch the last fish seems low. Many players reported countless attempts before they completed the collection.

Get a Better Fishing Rod – Here’s How
In Tarisland, you can also obtain better fishing rods in addition to the regular fishing rod. These reduce the time you need to fish.
- You receive the fine fishing rod through the achievement “Successful Fisher” for which you need to catch 30 large fish. It’s best to use better baits for this, otherwise it can take quite a long time.
- The Bone Fishing Rod is just as good as the fine fishing rod, but it is available at Fabian Schwarzwumme’s shop. He sells it for 500 shells. You obtain shells randomly through fishing.
