A group in World of Warcraft actually needs tanks, healers, and DPSs. But when tanks are not interested, they simply exclude the others.
Finding a good group in World of Warcraft is quite difficult. Especially for high-level dungeons or raids, you need not only experienced players but also a good mix of tanks, healers, and damage dealers. For many other groups, it is even more frustrating when 5 tanks are just having their own adventure – completely without healers that run out of mana or DPS characters that die in the fire.
What happened? In the WoW subreddit, the player NovemberRain404 showed a screenshot of his last group in Mythic+. It shows the rather unusual group composition: 5 tanks. No healer. No DPSs.
At least the choice of tanks is quite diversified, as the group consisted of one each of:
- Blood Death Knight
- Protection Warrior
- Guardian Druid
- Vengeance Demon Hunter
- Protection Paladin
Wild pulling, no tactics, but full success
How did it go? In the Ember Brewery – at level 12, mind you – you have to pay attention to some things. At least with a normal group. Not if you are playing with 5 tanks. Because then it is described as follows:
We pulled the entire first room together (Yes, all mobs) and did the gnolls along with the boss. Then we did all the mobs in the IPA room along with the mobs in the corridor before.
We were uncoordinated, we just said “screw it” and randomly pulled stuff while ignoring most mechanics, including the bee barrels.
What would have guaranteed caused a lot of wipes, frustrated insults in the group chat, and the occasional rage quit in other groups was, however, crowned with success here:
Because the dungeon was completed even within the time limit. The tank group had more than 2 minutes left.
In summary, NovemberRain404 describes the whole endeavor as “the most fun he has had in this season of Mythic+”.
The community mocks Brewmaster tanks: The performance is well received in the community, although one tank is subjected to some derision – the Brewmaster monk. This is because they are the only tank not represented in the group. This is also due to the fact that monk tanks currently have a bad reputation because they are considered by many to be too weak. Therefore, all the comments are a bit cynical or sarcastic:
- “Damn and you even have all tank classes in the game! Really all! None is missing. I swear.” – Adequate_Pupper
- “The representative for the Brewmaster was the bartender boss.” – KuroFafnar
- “Oh, so half of the tanking Mythic+ player base has disappeared, lol.” – ATSFervor
Do you sometimes go with unusual group compositions and forgo healers or DPS characters? Or do you think it’s a shame when tanks withdraw from other groups like that, leaving fewer tanks available for everyone else?
Just recently, tanks were even made stronger – but actually only when they play with others.
