A tank in Wow Classic managed to wipe his raid with an action. He uses unusual measures. The warrior resorts to a legendary paladin move.
This is the fight: In February, the Ruby Sanctum came to WoW Classic as the raid of Phase 3. One of the boss fights there pits the raid against Vaelastrasz the Corrupted. The red dragon was one of the first classic DPS checks in the history of WoW Classic. The fight is a DPS race; players must kill the boss before he inevitably wipes the raid.
In the boss fight, the debuff “Burning Adrenaline” is crucial: The buff causes the affected player to deal 100% more damage but also lose 5% HP every second until they die.
This debuff is regularly cast on tanks, and the next tank must take over. Therefore, aggro control in the fight, besides the damage, is crucial.
This is how the warrior tank wipes his raid: The tank is affected by the debuff, which ensures that all spells are cast instantly. However, the warrior allegedly “accidentally” presses the hearthstone and teleports home immediately due to the debuff.
The raid is then wiped; everyone dies – except for the warrior, who is far away somewhere where he bound his hearthstone.
Main character is definitely a paladin!
That’s why it’s so funny for WoW fans: The video of the wipe was posted on Reddit and received much support from WoW veterans.
Because the wipe is unusual: Normally, it takes a long time for the “hearthstone” to be used. It generally cannot be used as a getaway in combat and certainly not by the tank, who always has aggro and is therefore interrupted while casting.
In fact, “Bubble and hearthstone” is a legendary phrase that is often attributed to paladin tanks. They would bring themselves to safety and teleport home to save repair costs or when they no longer want to play, say people who want to annoy paladin tanks. Or paladin tanks say it themselves when they want to threaten their group.
Warriors do not normally have this option to escape with a hearthstone because they cannot make themselves unattackable.
