Rockstar Games’ next major milestone Red Dead Redemption 2 is currently still in development. The CEO of publisher Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, is already convinced that it will be successful.
During an investor conference, Zelnick expressed his sentiments regarding the high expectations tied to Red Dead Redemption 2. He seems very optimistic about this. He believes the game will be successful. He doesn’t appear to be worried about the competition.
Competition? Red Dead Redemption 2 will redefine the industry
The prospect of several competitors in the autumn is not alarming, but it is taken seriously. Rockstar Games does not take success for granted. Nonetheless, they are convinced that the shooter will be successful.
Many Rockstar titles have faced similar situations: It is not the first time they have had to face prominent competition. So far, this has not been too great of a hurdle.
Blockbusters influencing the entire industry? Zelnick is confident that with RDR2 they have created a creative milestone that could redefine the gaming industry. The reasons for this, however, he left open.
Will Red Dead Redemption 2 exceed expectations?
Every time they make it their goal not only to meet expectations and hopes but also to exceed them. With GTA 5, they never anticipated such success, yet it has become one of the most successful games of all time.
My belief is that Red Dead Redemption 2 will shatter expectations and that the online experience also will be extraordinary, but unexpected.
Multiplayer is expected to be unexpected and extraordinary: This is to be contributed by the new multiplayer mode, which according to Take-Two president Karl Slatoff is supposed to deliver a completely new online experience. Unfortunately, there is still no new information on this.
However, since Take-Two is keeping it such a secret, it is likely that this will differ from the online mode of GTA 5.
It is hard to predict how successful Red Dead Redemption 2 will ultimately be. Zelnick, however, points out that they could never have foreseen the success of GTA 5 in this way.
So who knows how the open-world shooter will fare? What do you think?
