In a podcast with comedian Joe Rogan, wrestling legend Hulk Hogan talks about filming with actor Sylvester Stallone. Stallone had a crazy idea that Hogan didn’t think much of. He modified the idea a bit, but Stallone still sustained some injuries.
What was the idea? Stallone took many hits from Hogan until he came up with the idea that Hogan should hit him as hard as possible. Hogan recounted how Stallone absorbed all those hits earlier and that they were just in the ring when the crazy idea came up.
Hogan didn’t want to do that and explained that while there were body spots where he could hit harder, he couldn’t do it with full force. Stallone wouldn’t back down and insisted that Hogan hit him with full force.

Even when Stallone backed down to 50% of his strength, Hogan thought the action was a bad idea. As a compromise, he offered to grab Stallone and hit him between the shoulders.
When he then hit with 50% of his strength, Stallone ended up at his feet. His lips were bleeding, but he got back up and was happy that the hit was perfect:
He was excited because I hit him.
Podcaster Rogan shortly responded to what a psycho Stallone is. Because that’s not even the worst injury the actor sustained.
During the filming of Rocky IV – The Fight of the Century, Stallone asked his colleague Dolph Lundgren to hit as hard as he could. The story ended with Stallone ending up in the intensive care unit for four days.
Hogan wants a broken nose for a cool film moment
At that time, Hogan himself was dealing with an injury: He had broken his nose during his stay in Japan. He wasn’t quite sure if it was for the second or third time.
He suggested back then that Stallone could punch him on the nose so that it explodes and all the blood splatters. ‘I was that crazy back then,’ Hogan explains.
The two faced each other in the film Rocky III. Sylvester Stallone played Rocky Balboa, Hulk Hogan took on the role of Thunderlips.
