The well-known action star Sylvester Stallone can now look back on a remarkable film career. However, a certain comic adaptation from 1995 greatly annoyed the actor in hindsight.
At a press conference for John Rambo in 2008, the actor commented on the sci-fi film Judge Dredd from 1995, where he played the lead role of a tough law enforcer.
Stallone stated that he deeply regretted the film, even though he initially found the premise promising.

He believed that the sci-fi film had great potential in the eyes of the star. “It could have been a fantastic, nihilistic, interesting vision of the future – [with] judge, jury, and executioner. The [film] really annoyed me a lot.”
He further explained what exactly he disliked about the film: “With all the pop culture, that really bothered me a lot. I thought it was a fantastic concept, but someone has to stand up for it when something doesn’t work – and I was the most famous and prominent”.
What kind of film is Judge Dredd? The film is based on a comic series from 2000AD. In it, Sylvester Stallone plays a so-called Judge, who embodies the role of a judge, jury, and executioner.
The Judges maintain law and order in the enormous mega-cities in the year 2080, while outside the cities, mutants make the area unsafe after a nuclear contamination.
