With the upcoming expansion, SWTOR is shaking things up in the cartel market – the packages are getting smaller, the rewards clearer.
Rarity levels now clearer
With Knights of the Fallen Empire, the developers of Star Wars: The Old Republic are taking the time to make the cartel market more organized and polish its features a bit. The first step will be simplifying the rarity levels: Until now, all items from the cartel market have had one of three rarities “rare”, “super rare”, and “ultra rare”. Because this was obviously not very helpful, these terms will now be changed to “bronze”, “silver”, and “gold” – because everyone can understand these terms.
Only 2 items per package
The biggest change affects the number of items you can find in a single package. Starting with the next patch, each box will only contain 2 items: a rare item such as armor, vehicles, decorations, or toys, and a companion gift of level 5. The general quality of the box contents is expected to increase, and rather annoying items like outdated crafting materials will no longer clutter the inventory. At the same time, the hyper crates will be a bit larger: they will now contain 30 cartel packages of the respective type instead of 24.
All items – at any time!
Finally, there will be a completely new category of crates. A total of 9, each for armor, decoration, and transport vehicles, and then in the three rarities bronze, silver, and gold. These crates can contain all items of the respective category – even if the corresponding cartel package is no longer available in the store due to an embargo! Given the variety of items that exist now, it is unlikely to get that one desired item exactly, but at least there is a chance for it.
For categories where there are not enough items, large packages will also be offered: Weapons, crystals, emotes, dyes, and others can soon be (more or less) targeted to buy, as you will be guaranteed to receive an item from the selected category.
