In SWTOR, players turn their attention to the warzones. These should be completed faster, and hackers are to be sent to the graveyard.
The developers at BioWare continue to follow their plan for Star Wars: The Old Republic. According to the roadmap, the next step is a revamp of the warzones. PvP should become more enjoyable again, and new mechanics will be introduced to deal with those who do not play fair.
Shorter matches with clear winners: PvP areas should be completed faster and have a clear winner more often. Therefore, the time to plant the bomb in the Voidstar is reduced, as is the time to defuse the bomb. This should lead to fewer “ties” and allow one side to actually claim victory.
Similar speeding up is taking place on other maps. On Alderaan, the turrets cause 20% more damage to the enemy ship, and at the Ancient Gateway, delivering a ball provides more points than before. On Yavin, however, team points are reduced (from 600 to 500), and a death additionally reduces points by 2.
Hackers will be punished: Anyone entering an area they shouldn’t be able to reach yet (such as the other side of the Voidstar before the bridges have been deployed) will now be killed immediately. The same applies to characters who “hack” terminals to capture them unnoticed without interruption.
“Hacker” is the wrong term: Some players in the official forum criticize the developers’ plans, particularly due to the loose handling of the term “hacking.” After all, some of these “hacks” merely consist of using a specific ability at the right moment, such as being launched over a ramp. This has nothing to do with real “hacking,” and using this term so casually would send the wrong signal to players.
