A Brief Overview – What is happening?

Although one might assume that the conflict between the Republic and the Empire has been nearing its climax in the last expansions, a previously unknown danger now arises from the galaxy. The Empire of Zakuul rises with Emperor Valkorion at its helm. He takes advantage of the fact that both factions are weakened and swiftly destroys them.

Years later, you as a player awaken from stasis and gather the last allies around you who survived the coup. You are merely a relic of days gone by. You are the Outlander, an enemy of the new government.

Epic Story for Solists

As BioWare has repeatedly emphasized in recent months, the main aspect of the expansion is the story. Instead of making only small decisions during the course of the narrative that may influence side plots, significant consequences can now result from the main quest. The life and death of several characters lie in the hands of the player and their actions will have far-reaching consequences that are not always immediately apparent.

Since it will be your very own story, most game content is also designed exclusively for solo players. While other group members can accompany you, they cannot influence the course of the quests. Those who want to experience KotFE in a group will likely be sorely disappointed. KotFE is fundamentally a solo experience, intended to build upon BioWare’s narrative masterpieces like Mass Effect or Dragon Age.
