A change for the SWTOR expansion has only just been announced, and the player base is divided.
“SWTOR is dead now!”
It is always interesting to see how quickly player opinions can shift from “This is the best addon of all time” to “Oh my God, what a piece of junk”. Just three weeks before the release of the SWTOR expansion Knights of the Fallen Empire, BioWare announced a new feature that will affect all players: Level Synchronization.
In plain terms, this means that your character will always be on par with the threats in their current location. If a level 60 Sith Lord returns to Korriban, they will only be as strong as a level 5 character.
Although there are some players who welcome these changes, there is currently a real shitstorm in the official forum. The complaints are numerous, and the reasons at least understandable:
- “You are taking away players’ ability to experience old content solo and to play the game the way they want!”
- “I don’t want to deal with low-level mobs when I’m doing RP on old planets!” (by the way, the best reason ever)
The demand from most players is clear: Make the system optional! Anyone who wants a lower level to play with low-level friends should be able to do so. But nobody should be forced into it.
Whether BioWare will backtrack in the last 3 weeks or simply hopes that the complaints will die down remains to be seen. Many players feel cheated and rightly ask: Why has this been kept secret for so long?
