The new expansion Onslaught for the MMORPG Star Wars: The Old Republic is here. But how is it received by the players?
What does the new expansion bring? The war between the Sith Empire and the Republic is back in the spotlight. This is something many fans have wished for.
You will explore new worlds like the planet Onderon or the hollowed asteroid Mek-Sha, where many adventures await you. Moreover, you return to Corellia. You can now create a character from the species of Nautolans, to which Jedi Master Kit Fisto belongs in the prequel film trilogy. The expansion offers a lot of content.
Additionally, there is a new Flashpoint and an operation on the moon Dxun, and you can enhance your hero using tactical items. Onslaught is one of the most important expansions for SWTOR with these contents.
When was Onslaught released? The release took place on October 22. However, with some delay. The maintenance took a little longer than planned.
Players celebrate the expansion
What are the reactions to the expansion? After the fans have been able to play for a little over a day, discussions about Onslaught are already happening. Even though there are players who have some points to criticize, this expansion is generally well received.
However, one point of criticism is the scope. The story is supposed to end for each faction after about three hours. That seems too little for some.
- TheLuiz mentions on Reddit: “Expansions should offer a long playtime. Therefore, the new story feels like just part 1.”
- JayChow expresses some disappointment in the official forum: “So we waited almost a year for this story, and it does not really add anything relevant to the plot? Two planets and a rock to conclude the story… There’s not even enough time to really enjoy the locations.”
However, the positive feedback prevails. Most fans find the story very exciting despite its brevity and love the expansion.
- swtorarmy says on Reddit: “They did a great job, and I am already looking forward to the future.”
- Darkguy812 thinks: “If we got an expansion of this size and quality of Onslaught every year, I would be very happy.”
Most SWTOR fans are happy
That’s why many are already looking to the future: The fact that the story is somewhat shorter this time leads to fans discussing how things could proceed. The story has raised some questions, and players are eagerly awaiting the answers. In these discussions, spoilers are present, so read them with caution.
Also, the innovations and changes, such as the new playable species or class adjustments, are mostly well received:
- DarthVitrial writes on Reddit: “It was fantastic to play. I especially loved the stuff around the Inquisitor. It is great to see our classes receiving such recognition again.”
Have you had the chance to play the SWTOR expansion Onslaught? What do you think about it?
