At SWTOR the developers are talking about some plans for the future. Will Raiders soon enjoy new operations? And what about new classes?
“It would be crazy not to think about it”
If you enjoy exciting stories with an epic narrative and plenty of cool twists, then you are likely satisfied with the current expansion “Knights of the Fallen Empire.” However, some players of Star Wars: The Old Republic are quite dissatisfied, as they feel overlooked. All the story around the Eternal Empire is nice, but as a Raider, it is no longer fun to go through the same operations over and over again, which are only raised in level each time. Fresh challenges and associated new armor sets would benefit the game if they want to keep the remaining fans of operations.
In a private Q&A session with the developers, these questions were addressed. Regarding operations, it is said:
“Listen, do we know that everyone wants it? Yes. Do we want to do it as well? Yes. Are we able to do it? Yes. So why shouldn’t we work on it? It takes a while and may not be released as quickly as people would like, but it would be crazy not to think about more operations.”
Are new classes coming?
New classes for SWTOR have also been talked about for quite some time. That was reason enough to bring the subject up again:
“We have been talking about new classes for a very long time. That is something we would all love to work on.”
One problem, however, is that these classes would not start at level 1, as a completely new origin story for the first 60 levels seems out of the question – the effort would simply be too great. However, they are considering possibly letting new classes start later, around level 60.
“Letting new classes start in later expansions could work, but we would still need to address class balance. Many people might not want new classes at all because of balance concerns and would complain no matter what we do.”
So there are no firm commitments for the future. But at least, new classes are not entirely off the table – the game would surely benefit from a few new faces.
