An old temple chair caused some problems in Star Wars: The Old Republic. It possessed magical powers and could change its value, leading to a slight credit inflation. The community manager is now threatening sanctions against users of the exploit.
A profit margin of 10,000%
When you buy an item from a vendor in an MMO, it usually sells back to the same vendor for significantly less. However, this was not the case for a decoration item in SWTOR. One could purchase the “Temple Chair” for a single credit and then resell it for 100 credits to the same vendor. The Hutts couldn’t have arranged a better deal. This circumstance allowed numerous players to amass large amounts of money.
The community manager Eric Musco has already spoken out on this, and threatened sanctions for all players who take advantage of this exploit.
The obvious bug will be fixed as soon as possible so that the economy of BioWare’s sci-fi MMO is no longer threatened.
